VIDEO: Letterman Makes Official Apology To Palin Family
"Late Show" w/ David Letterman ^ | June 15, 2009 | Real Clear Politics

Posted on 06/15/2009 8:58:08 PM PDT by i88schwartz

On Monday night's "Late Show" host David Letterman re-addressed his comments about Gov. Sarah Palin and her teenage daughter. Letterman made a more serious apology than his response last week. "I had, honestly, no idea that the 14-year-old girl, I had no idea that anybody was at the ball game except the governor, and I was told at the time she was there with Rudy Giuliani," Letterman said.

The post has the full transcript and the video.

I called as many of them (sponsors) as I could! I also called CBS and expressed my outrage. To hear him sit there and explain that he meant the 18 year old and not the 14 year old as some sort of self-justification makes me want to bitch-slap that gap-toothed grin right off his aging, angry, washed up left-wing has-been face!

Letterman: You are human debris, sir

It wasn’t a “joke”—it was an attempt at humiliating a politician he doesn’t like, i.e. a conservative. He pushed the envelope too far. The sponsors have spoken and he apologized. I don’t want him fired. I hope he is off the air soon because of poor ratings. He is still the same left winger he’s always been and will continue to attack conservatives thru his “humor.”

Maybe late night TV hosts ought to write their own jokes.

I do not watch these programs, but it is evident that (the hosts) they are frauds.

Reminds me of a certain President who reads things w/out understanding or preview!

Maybe Sarah should start every speech she makes with a rude joke about David Letterman’s son getting raped by a ‘slutty male flight attendant’. Or “Bubba” from the state penetentiary. See how long he thinks joking about peoples’ kids is funny.

Lies larded over with bullsh*t, and I’m not buying it.

Of course you knew Governor Palin was there WITH her 14 year old daughter otherwise you wouldn’t have made reference to her daughter being raped at the game.

Crawl in a hole and pull it in after you letterpunk, your fake “apology” to appease the advertisers stinks on ice.

You won’t get his being way over the line by attacking Sarah.

The joke(s) he told were sexist trash. No doubt. And he doesn’t really see the fault in either one. But for the perception that he was making a joke about child rape, he apologized.

His show ceased being funny the minute he brought his politics into it. He treated GW like crap years ago, and really is a jerk. Maybe now, he will lay low on the Sarah Jokes. The Barracuda showed her fangs, and she won. That’s enough for me to call it a day on the controversy.

But it would be accusing her of being loose, a promiscuous woman accusation again.

We can do both, you weirdo Letterman apologist.

No sensible person had any kind of “misunderstanding” of Letterman’s mysogynistic and filthy joke.

He not only spoke of a young woman being PUBLICLY assaulted by a baseball player, he spoke of the “Highlights” that could be seen later on video.

This is a reference to pornography, of which David probably has a large collection.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. These words of his about the Palin girl did not spring from a clean heart.

He didn’t use the term Raped. He said she got knocked up. Whether or not he believed Willow was there is up for debate and we sure as heck won’t ever know.

Letterman is a sexist jerk, but we have given him more publicity than he deserves.

I honestly don’t believe the joke was about rape, but was yet ANOTHER did (Joyless Behar on the View does this all the time) about what a ‘slut’ Bristol was for getting pregnant (’knocked up’)out of wedlock and being an unwed mother—Letterman and his writers were stupid for assuming that Bristol was the one attending the ball game when in truth it was Willow, the 14 year old.

Doesn’t matter in the long run—the jokes were disgusting and unfunny—and I am tired of seeing the constant attacks on Sarah Palin and her children (even little baby Trig has been targeted!) when all other politicians’ children are considered ‘off limits’...would the MSM’s “ha-ha he was just joking attitude you’re reading too much into this and overreacting” attitude toward the whole thing be the same if the joke had been about “Sasha went to the ball game and got knocked up by A-Rod in the seventh inning stretch!!” or “Malia sure is wearing slutty looking makeup while she’s visiting NYC!!”

I...don’t...think...so!!!! >:-(

Whatever, Palladin. I can’t stand David Letterman, but saying someone got knocked up is not the same as saying they got raped. If it was about Willow, then yes, it would have been statutory rape. If it was about Bristol, it was a classless, sexist, mysogynist joke that should get him some time off. Regarding the porn, you may well be right. I don’t know. The left has such disdain for Sarah Palin that they don’t care if they destroy her children to hurt her. Why? Because she scares the pee out of them.

Letterman: You are human debris, sir.

And at the end of the day, Letterman will still be bringing home $31,000,000.00 a year.

Yes it would have. He apologized to both Willow and Bristol in his apology and to the whole family. The fact he made any jokes about “getting knocked up” at all just shows him to be a hypocrite. But what else is new with the left?

IMO, it was a non-apology because he’s still clueless about why people are angry and offended. Typical Liberal!

He never was sorry for the joke he made about Willow because if he was, he wouldn’t have called her a prostitute for Elliot Spitzer the very next day. He knew how old she was then, and still called her a hooker. I think referring to a child as a hooker was just as bad as the original crude comment he made. He can’t pretend he didn’t know how old she was because when he told the original vulgarity, there was backlash, and the age of Willow was stated, so what did the idiot do the next day, called her a hooker. Letterman is done, you can see him trying to slime his way out of this but it won’t work
And everyone is right, Sarah doesn’t have to say a word, we will do the work for her. Letterman will pay for what he did, he hasn’t gotten away with it and he won’t

Did you really think that the home of Katie Couric would do anything less? We got more than I expected.

This just in. Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead and David Letterman is a nasty twit.
