Time for a live thread to keep track of all the news in Iran- it's getting tough to keep up!
I've listened to him carefully when he speaks without benefit of TOTUS- I don't believe he's ever had an original thought.

Thanks for the picture, quite extraordinary. Without flippancy, this is going to be one of the best photographed insurrections in history.
Yes, I saw reports about the Arab Besiji (danged if I know how to spell Besiji consistently). Don’t know how recent a phenomena this is: I guess most of the Arab imports are rent-a-fanatics on speed-dial. Two weeks from now they’ll be back in Lebanon. Or hanging from lamp-posts.
If Iran’s mullahs aren’t careful POTUS may upgrade his actions from a ‘concern’ at their activities to ‘a deep concern’. So watch out!
Obama is AWOL, like when he used to vote present in the Illinois Senate.
The question would be whether religious zealotry is that prevalent in the Iranian Army. I’m not sure it is.
tweets:
Non stop sound of shooting heard in Tehran
after hearing about killing a person by Basij people from Ikbatan(a part of Tehran) came out & started another demonstration

I'm guessing moonlighting Hezbollah. This may be a strategic mistake by the ruling elite. The Basiji seem to be doing all the head-busting, the Army and Police are staying out of it. It's dangerous, particularly in a tribal-oriented society, to bring in outside killers. Once the demonstrators start killing Basiji (who seem to be armed just with clubs), it's not going to stop easily.
Prayers for those in Iran who are attempting to stand against this evil. Prayers for the families of the slain.
Mehdi Karrubi or Karroubi has a reasonably clear platform roughly half of which are things Freepers would support.
His policies seem to be: (from Wiki)
1. Returning to the planned-based system of governing and using the elite and experts in decision making process
2. Organizing financial policies and increasing the effect of national budget
3. Protecting human rights and people’s privacy
4. Improving women’s social status
5. Nationalizing oil profits
6. Supporting NGOs
7. Supporting the right of religious or tribal minorities
8. Supporting the domination of law and opposing and criticizing illegal behavior
9. Supporting the press and free access to the information and internet
“His main economical programming is letting people to hold the stocks of oil and gas companies and share oil profit. These stocks will be shared among Iranians above 18 years of age without the right to sell. He has predicted that this will add 70000 Tomans a month to every Iranian’s income.”
In contrast: I can’t find much about what Mousavi wants, except that he wants to promote the creation of private, non-governmental TV networks and get rid of the religious police. Which sounds fair enough as far as it goes.
There was some talk (from Mousavi supporters) about Karroubi not running so as to avoid splitting the reformist vote. But it looks like the votes weren’t counted anyway :0(
Right now, Rasoul Hospital, seven dead bodies..(via http://ff.im/40C2H) http://ff.im/40Itx
That won’t last, some high-ranker’s kid will get shot or beaten and that’ll be all it takes...something tells me the Basji are about to get swept out...the question is...will it stop there?
The plan to eliminate the religious police was probably what triggered the election fraud and the Basiji attacks on the demonstrators.
If things begin to develop in the next few days he won’t be able to hide from it. I see Chancellor Merkel has condemned Iran though.
I found that very interesting.
