Unfortunately, it’s all about money! They will soon learn that such tax increases and other government actions will either cause a decrease in taxes or a viable underground network selling cigarettes... Me, I am searching for such an alternative now... Any anti-tax cigarette venders in the neighborhood (Corpus Christi, Texas)? Waiting to hear from you...

Hey, if you really want to get into the politician buying business, you really need to get in line...

All of government is essentially open for purchase... Where have you been? You could have bought much more for your dollar if you had invested in you local Congressman. Of course, if you did not have the money to do so, you could have at least called him up and demanded some action (or whatever)!

What kind of fool are you anyway...?

Yes, of course I agree that politics is crooked and needs to be changed... Good luck in changing that! Only the corrupt and rich even run for office, so what is to be gained by voting?

Sure, there are plenty of statists in the Republican party, and by default, FR.

Heh... Hopefully, he will see the over reaching of government that the rest of us see. If not, he is just another clown...

viable underground network selling cigarettes...

Please freepmail me when you find one. I'll do likewise. Wonder if it's illegal (yet) to grow your own. I find it amazing after the additional $6.00/carton tax added recently, there still is the famous "47 million" who do not have insurance.

In today’s ideological climate, a total ban on tobacco would be unremarkable. It would also create a lot of jobs. In law enforcement.
It’s coming.

Yup.

Somebody here on another thread was all for President Mau-Mau’s fat taxes and for coercing people to excercise and lose weight.

His argument was that he was “tired of paying more for his insurance because of the added cost of treating overweight people”.

I have my own catastrophic health policy with a $3,000 deductible. I aready pay extra on my premium because I smoke and my BMI is just above their target range.

I go to the doctor once a year and pay out of pocket.

I don’t particularly like paying higher premiums because of hypochondriacs that run off to be felt up by their doctor every time they sneeze.

We all have our personal gripes.

But I don’t want somebody else taxed more so I can get a free ride.

63% of Americans are overweight.
30% are obese.

Sounds like we should ban freakin Ho Ho’s and Dominos.

Watching fox this AM, Phillip Morris backs this move. A hallmark of a fascist regime is a coalition of government and large industry. This alliance benefits both, the large corporation benefits because only a large corporation can afford the start up cost of compliance to new regulations, hence smaller upstarts die off; the government gets a willing enforcer of their policies.

So true; beer, soda, chips, even coffee, to be replaced with green tea and carrots when watching the tube.

Since there will be massive smuggling and an immense black market per prohibition days (not to mention these days for some products), and since we don't want to offend people who don't smoke we'll need to clearly identify smokers. Since the JOOS have dibs on a yellow Star of David and Christians will naturally get bright Red Cross to wear so even Mall Cops can help keep an eye on them, will smokers wear a light brown leaf on their arm and will beer drinkers have to wear an Amber can, or a silver can on their arms?

Veterans are dangerous which means they need to wear a bright white cross-hair on their arm and corporate managers or executives obviously will have to wear a bright green dollar sign, but what will the overweight people wear on their arm or are they going to be exempted as being identifiable without an armband? If overweight people don't get their own armband, aren't they being unfairly discriminated against?

Will taxing the hell out of everything people voluntarily use their disposable income on be the same as a huge tax hike or is it only a tax hike when you pay it before you figure out what's left over to spend on the things you want?

Does HusseinO still get his stash from the same guy he did in college and will that guy handle cigs now or does the White House staff provide anything and everything, no questions asked?

I’m confused, I can’t keep track of the stuff we’re having taken away and who gets an exemption. I’ll just assume that since I’m not politically correct, I have to give up everything from my religion to my desert after dinner right along with my vehicle, favorite radio Hosts, and my six smokes a day (hey, you gotta conserve when you're on a disability income).

Have I got that all about right, and if not, will there be a free government pamphlet with pictures of all the right armbands?

I really wish someone would have told me it would come to this back in ‘68 before I went to the recruiter’s office. I’d have had more time to drive real cars, drink beer, and smoke cigarettes before I handed over my youth and health.

When will HusseinO start to use the royal “we” now that he’s started kicking huge groups of people down the well instead of just tossing them under the bus?

This is insanity; this is madness; THIS IS OBAMALAND!!!

Regards

They have that bundled under health care. Since HusseinO can't kick the habit himself, he's doing this so that everyone will be just as pissed off as he is listening to The Other One harp at him in bed every night, over breakfast every morning, at dinner every evening, you know the type.

Regards

If you smoke, you’re not a tobaccophobe.

And you love the children, too!

SCHIP is funded by tobacco taxes.

Tobaccophobes hate children.

;-)

Tobaccophobes: People who are against even the thought of tobacco and must insult and harass those who use tobacco to make them feel better about themselves.

They are advertising 'smoke free' condos for sale in a new building here in dt Boston.
