Obama goes first in a few minutes. He's speaking at the rotunda of the National Archives (you think we could get Nicholas Cage on that birth certificate thingey?) on his Gitmo policy and other man-caused calamities.
Vice President Cheney gets the rebuttal time. He's speaking at the American Enterprise Institute around 10:45 a.m. EDT.
Betcha Cheney will have a few ad lib comments...
FNC said before this started that Cheney had TV monitors around the room so he would know when Bambi was through lying!
Now he is threatening trials of those in the Bush administration while saying he is against it. The guy is a scum bag. He constantly is bring up the last 8 years while decrying it. What a jerk.
Is there a link to the speech???
FOX is going to carry streaming video, so says their website.
Just wondering, the court decisions in which Obama said they ruled no reason to hold 21 Gitmo prisoners - I’m guessing those were not Supreme Court decisions?
When he said he can’t just do what he wants because of Congress and the Courts, he missed the little fact that as Commander in Chief he damn well can do what he wants regarding our troops at war.
I was momentarily side tracked. What the Heck is he talking about???? I’m lost.
Mark is popping the BP meds as we speak....
Yes, Obama is on the defensive.
He just stated that he intends to severely curtail the the states secret privilege. WTH?
From Wikipedia:
The State Secrets Privilege is an evidentiary rule created by United States legal precedent. The court is asked to exclude evidence from a legal case based solely on an affidavit submitted by the government stating court proceedings might disclose sensitive information which might endanger national security,[1][2][3][4][5][6] and military secrets in particular as in the case of United States v. Reynolds,[7] the first case that saw formal recognition of the privilege.
He is standing there with a bucket of water while watching Reid and Pelosi burn... the fire is spreading.....GRIN....
What's interesting is that Obama obviously thought they would go along with his "take the money" plan...and figure it out later...but they reversed it....Give us a plan....then we;ll give you the money. Congress is catching on!!
Obama can play it two ways...I have a plan or you have a plan...He likes to delegate...In fact, I'd say he's friggin' lazy...
So much repetition.
Now he’s calling himself the decider. How ironic.
Talk about a strawman, just said his opponents argue that “anything goes” and justify any means to the end.
Not even remotely true.
So is Obama!
