Obama goes first in a few minutes. He's speaking at the rotunda of the National Archives (you think we could get Nicholas Cage on that birth certificate thingey?) on his Gitmo policy and other man-caused calamities.

Vice President Cheney gets the rebuttal time. He's speaking at the American Enterprise Institute around 10:45 a.m. EDT.

Obama wants input from the public. The public doesn’t want detainees transferred to mainland US.

I don't know, sound a lot like Nixon and Clinton after their hands were caught in the cookie jar. But this guy just got walloped in the House. He is a baby, possibly overly emotional, possibly dangerous indecision during times of stress.

Likely so. They were probably late so they could fine-tune their "message". I just heard a soundbite on the radio that was telling about the speech. The soundbyte said that Obama is doing this to clean up "the mess" that was left to his administration. Since I'm not listening to the speech, did he actually say that?

According to the live feed Cheney has not appeared at the podium and the press appears to be bored with watching Obamas speech and having to wait for Cheney to appear.

You are absolutely right. This speech is nothing more than a temper tantrum.

I have thought for a while that the bigger political fight will be between the Dems in Congress and Obama. That this will be their undoing. I don't think the Dems in the House and Senate want to be sidelined by this President and they must be hearing a lot of noise from their constituents.
