Obama goes first in a few minutes. He's speaking at the rotunda of the National Archives (you think we could get Nicholas Cage on that birth certificate thingey?) on his Gitmo policy and other man-caused calamities.
Vice President Cheney gets the rebuttal time. He's speaking at the American Enterprise Institute around 10:45 a.m. EDT.
He’s stalling to keep Cheney from speaking live.
BRING ON CHENEY!!!
sw
Supermax prisons’ no-escape record doesn’t answer concerns about moving Gitmo terrorists onto U.S. soil
I’ll have to read the text, but from the snippets here....Jeez louise, Barry oughta be Baker Act’ed.
Thanks for the heads up about the AEI video.
Maybe Cheney should begin talking now.
Obama had his chance.
Is Dick waiting for him to get through?

I hope so, but I wonder if he will defer to his audience and start on his scheduled time as a courtesy - something that leftists never consider.
I thought so too. He’s sure talked a lot and said nothing.
GET OUT OF CHENEY’S WAY!
I wonder if he gave the Congressional leadership a heads up on this speech..he’s spitting in Reid’s eye, f’sure
Ping for later to hear comments on Cheney’s speech.
Looking forward to The Great One’s comments on his podcast tomorrow.
“He meant sharia law.”
I’d laugh, but it’s too close to the truth.
Mr. Teleprompter must have cut off those words for sake of expediency.
Obama is telling more lies. If we are hit again, then let’s compare what he says now compared to what he says then.
The scene before Cheney’s speech

About a dozen cameras and a packed room await Cheney’s speech. A big screen has been set up in the small room, where the Obama speech will be piped into the Cheney audience.
Cheney’s speech will immediately follow Obama’s.

*** Previewing Cheneys speech:
Meanwhile, Politicos Mike Allen gets a heads-up of what Cheney will say.
The gist: When President Obama makes wise decisions, he deserves our support. And when he mischaracterizes the national security decisions we made in the Bush years, he deserves an answer. The point is not to look backward. But a truthful telling of history is necessary to inform our choices going forward.
Allen also notes that Cheney will defend the effectiveness of Gitmo and enhanced interrogation techniques. Finally, Cheney will say the American people deserve to see the whole picture as they assess the policies of the past — not just half the story. We’ve also gotten a heads-up on what the former VP will say.
It’s our understanding that among the praise Cheney will dish out will be the administration’s decision to rescind releasing those military prison abuse photos. For his part, Cheney believes his role is helping keep the Obama administration from capitulating to the left on these national security issues, which he believes is its natural instinct.
Cheney also will continue to make the case that the prosecution of the war on terror should be kept out of the hands of law enforcement and should stay in the hands of the military.

Heard earlier that I believe it’s Lynn, not Liz Cheney, will be on with Chuck Todd on MSNBC after the speeches.
Does anyone know if Cheney’s speech is going to be streaming on the internet?
That won’t keep it from being used again and again as a talking point. Wait and see.
“This is the most defensive speech I have ever seen given by a president.”
Stunning, isn’t it.
I have had a crush on Cheney forever.

Son is homeschooled. We are currently reading Animal Farm. Its great to re read it in the current situation. I have pointed out so many things to him, and it is way better reading it now than when I originally did (during Reagan).
You can really rename the characters in the book today pretty preceisely. My son is pretty enthralled with it. I bet it will no longer be required reading in the future.
media-poor Obama nothing is his fault, his plate is so full, what a great speech, he wants to focus on the future but ya know it's all Bush's fault, inherited.
