If Mitt Romney is in, I'm out!
Declaration of Independence | April 30, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/30/2009 11:50:51 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Yeah, I know. Said some similar things about Bush in 2000. But at least he was pro-life, pro-family, etc, and thank God we supported him over the idiot All Green Gore.

Said similar things about McCain in 2008. But when asked the question "when does human life begin?," and he unabashedly stated, "At conception, of course," I had to take notice. Then when he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate, I decided to support her. I voted for Sarah (and the white haired old geezer that came along with the package).

But Romney is a NO go. And I don't care who this socialist, abortionist, homosexualist, constitution trampling bastard picks for running mate. If Romney's in I'm out!

G.O.P., R.I.P!

He opened with a joke about her supposed book deal. “I hear Sarah Palin got a $7 million book advance, I’d take one of those if I wasn’t so busy with you all.”

He said it right after David introduced him (too glowing of a recommendation/introduction from David IMHO). It was tacky and nobody laughed.

The best candidates may not run and Sarah may still be in court fight[ing] imaginary Axelrod-induced ethics problems.

Fixed.

So he says as he prepares his run for the presidency. His dirty deeds speak much louder than is angelic words.

That would put you in the intelligent “think for myself” category. Grownups don’t have to play fraternity games....well, except for Obama. That Reagan quote perfectly describes the mentality I’ve come across here and elsewhere in cyberspace. Happy to say that I haven’t witnessed that sort of attitude in “real” life with the family, friends and acquantances. There’s always something to be thankful for.

Where a lot of "moderates" went wrong with Obama is by listening to his speeches without looking at his voting record. Romney comes from Massachusetts and it doesn't take much to be considered a Conservative by their standards.

One look at his leadershiop and their tunnel debacle and socialize healthcare should have been enough to scare any real conservative away.

Out of curiosity, what triggered this? Did Romney do something today?

I’m with you, he is a Rino...just curious what got you going at this particular point in time.

OK
I was for:

Thompson
then
Romney
then
McCain

I supported Romney as the “anti McCain” -—

But I want a better candidate as well.

I think Romney would have been better than McCain. I still feel that way.

However, I would prefer to have a candidate that did not split the conservatives at all.

Who might that be?

To hell with them. If the GOP is no better than the socialist/abortionist/homosexualist Democrats, to hell with the whole lot of them.

My sentiments exactly.

"Might be more productive to offer up a candidate that would fulfill the conservative agenda and then start campaigning for them now."

Great idea! Start naming a few.

Yes, many of us are upset with the Republican Party from time to time.

From time to time? Have you been living in a cave? You obviously haven't read many posts excoriating the OP over the past couple of years.

However, you are in a very small minority, as far as the number of people on FR that want to completely destroy the Republican Party and start an new Party.

The OP leadership has done an effective job destroying the party all by themselves.

You are in an even SMALLER group if you think that your “strategy” will accomplish anything.

Your definition of smaller is as vague as your definition of minority.

I am considering running for Congress first, on a platform calling for a flat income tax and the elimination of all business taxes, a freeze on all non-defense spending, securing American borders and repatriation of illegal aliens, a phased privatization of Social Security and Medicare, a gradual transfer of federal authority back to the states, and the re-establishment of a monetary standard of value. How far do you think I’d get?

Rep. Duncan D. Hunter will be 36 in 2012.

I saw a brief news interview with him recently. He is articulate.

He might be one to watch.

And if he ever runs for president again, all of those videos, transcripts, articles and more will be in the breaking news column of FR every day. I guarantee it. Bigot! /sarc

Seriously, NOW is the time to take out the trash in the GOP and conservatives are being heard. Conservatives were told that we couldn't win and that we needed the Rockefellers to win. Well, the Rockefellers have destroyed us. Anyone look at a Congressional map since Nov. 5th 2008? So it's time the GOP goes back to conservatism. And PLACE NO ADJECTIVE IN FRONT OF IT - conservatism wins everywhere it is tried.

How far do you think I’d get?

Although as you can see I'm for The Fair Tax, the more appropriate question is how will you know if you don't try?

As I’ve often said, Romney ran the uber-liberal state of MA as best he could. Is there any doubt he would have been a better candidate, and President, than McCain? And he would not have been turning this country into a socialist people’s republic as Obama is doing. I’m not saying he should, or will, be the next GOP candidate. But I’d sure rather have him sitting in the WH than the Marxist we have now.

No question about that.
Romney would have been miles ahead of the moronic McCain.
I find it hard to think of anyone who could have run a worse campaign than McCain did. I mean..this is Juan McPain we are talking about here. The guy spent the last 6 years before 2008, actively attacking conservatives, president Bush, and any Republican who as much as dared disagree with him..and he ends up as the Republican candidate? That was a recipe for utter disaster.
