Britain is going to need far more people like Sir Michael Caine

His name, as they say, is Michael Caine. And he's not a happy bunny. The 76-year-old film star has revealed in colourful terms that he has had it, and will leave Britain if taxes get any higher.

"The Government has taken tax up to 50 per cent, and if it goes to 51 I will be back in America," he said at the weekend. "We've got 3.5 million layabouts on benefits, and I'm 76, getting up at 6am to go to work to keep them. Let's get everybody back to work so we can save a couple of billion and cut tax, not keep sticking it up."

That movie didn't do much at the box office, but I agree with you it's one of the best movies ever. Definitely makes my list of best 100 movies of all time. If anyone hasn't seen it, rent it and have a fun night at the movies.

I grew up in the same home town as Jimmy Stewart, and am heavily biased toward him as the greatest all-time Hollywood actor, but I still have to tip my hat to “Man Who Would be King” for best movie.

Michael Caine is one of the best half dozen actors working today, IMHO. And he's a true working actor - he doesn't collect a $20 million payday and spend the rest of the year touring with an entourage.

He even pulled off playing a Texan in Second Hand Lions, a really nice movie. The thought of he and Robert Duvall fishing in their pond with shotguns still cracks me up!

I put Jimmy Stewart in my top three actors, but if someone really pushes me to settle on one number one, I choose Jimmy. Besides being a great actor he was a patriot, a humble man and as far as I know never gave in to the temptations of Hollywood.

That sounds about right. I have friends over there and a couple of them didn't have a job for over 4 years. Didn't even look for one either. "I'm on the dole why work?"

Eye opening, isn't it? Britain isn't as bad as the rest of Europe, but Labour has been doing its darnedest to get there.

Shoot, Zero and the Dims want to get the U.S. down that path with those of us who work paying the mortgages and health care of our "layabouts."
