Today, Texas State Sen. Rodney Ellis (D) rightly condemned his state's very fringe Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) for his unconstitutional and outrageously dishonest rant about Texas secession: Apparently the author is far too busy to bother himself to look up the Texas State Constitution Article 1, Sections 1 and 2; which explictly state that Texas does IN FACT reserve the right to leave the USA at will. Further, Texas can divide itself into 5 seperate states (at will) and the USA explictily does not get a voice in that decision. This is a benefit that Texas drove when the USA asked Texas to join the United States. Texas agreed, upon conditions laid out in their state constitution.
But, you know how liberals and education mix about as well as oil and water.

“If they did, the Republican Party would not win another presidential election in my lifetime”
Well, they haven’t won the past two elections, the GOP leadership currently has no balls, and, if they don’t get back to conservatism, they won’t win another election.
But, if Texas seceded and all of us conservatives left the USSA, what would we care?
While the USSA goes straight to hell under the tyranny of Comrade Barack Obama, we conservatives in Texas would be living in prosperity and freedom.

Not just "fringe", but "very fringe"... Soon comedians will find themselves out of job due to heavy competition from the democratic politicians.

I urge Governor Perry to ramp down the rhetoric and state unequivocally -- as Governor Bush did in the 1990s -- that secession is not only not an option, it isn't going to be part of the political discussion.A lot can change in 20 years, twinkle toes. We're tired of screwing around. You're welcome to leave Texas any time...I'll take your house for my family when we move in!

Democratic Texas Senators Forced into Exile
Just to prove that California isnt the only state mired in political turmoil, comes this letter from Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis who, along with 10 of his fellow Democratic state senators, have gone into voluntary exile in New Mexico. The Democrats have fled Texas in order to prevent the Texas Legislature from passing a Republican-backed bill that would redraw the states congressional districts in a way that would eliminate up to 7 Democrats from the U.S. House of Representatives. To make matters even worse, Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry has ordered Sen. Ellis and his band of exiles arrested and jailed should they return to their homes. This is quite a letter, folks.
