Today, Texas State Sen. Rodney Ellis (D) rightly condemned his state's very fringe Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) for his unconstitutional and outrageously dishonest rant about Texas secession: Apparently the author is far too busy to bother himself to look up the Texas State Constitution Article 1, Sections 1 and 2; which explictly state that Texas does IN FACT reserve the right to leave the USA at will. Further, Texas can divide itself into 5 seperate states (at will) and the USA explictily does not get a voice in that decision. This is a benefit that Texas drove when the USA asked Texas to join the United States. Texas agreed, upon conditions laid out in their state constitution.
But, you know how liberals and education mix about as well as oil and water.

We could keep the same map. And divide into 5 states and get 10 senators from Texas? The Dems would pop a critical vessel.

You don't honestly think the US Government would like an agreement or the law get in the way of them keeping Texas in the Union even if the majority of its citizens voted to leave?

Dear lord I get tired of have to correct this old wheeze. Listen carefully. Texas has already been divided into 5 states. Look up the old maps. At the time of annexation, the land mass of the Republic of Texas included big chunks of what became New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and a little piece of Nebraska.

"Apparently the author is far too busy to bother himself to look up the Texas State Constitution..."If liberals only spoke of things they know and understand they wouldn't get to say much in polite company.
