The only way to settle this is for the rest of the nation to secede from Texas. But, of course, then I’ll be moving to the Lone Star Republic! Go TEXAS!!

Why Mr. Robinson, I do believe you have caught the secesh bug. :)

Looks like a bad case, you know there is only one cure.....

Oh, and I meant to add that Texas secession would not be constitutional or unconstitutional. It would be extraconstitutional, since the U.S. constitution says nothing about states joining or seceding from the Union.

All we would really need to do is a) inform the U.S. government of our intent to secede, b) declare a date where Texas would no longer pay taxes to the U.S. government and, in return, no longer receive payments or services from the U.S. government then c) petition the United Nations to be seated as a separate nation (Yeah, I’m no fan of the U.N. either but, in this case, recognition would blunt any efforts by the U.S. government to take us back militarily).

No blood, no bullets. We would, on the same day, begin assessing a flat tax on Texas citizens to help fund the start up of a new government that is going to need their own currency, their own military, their own border patrol and a few other things like air traffic control and customs.

There’s probably going to need to be at least a two-year lead-up time to make the transition work which is why it is important to get the ball rolling as soon as possible before Obama and the Democrats march us further down the road to socialism where we lose the freedom to be autonomous.

We can do this, Texans! We just need a few people willing to stick their necks out and pressure our politicans to get the job done and to disregard the whiny liberals and their lapdog media. Remember that, once our independence is won, our elected leaders can send a big fat middle finger to the U.S. news media and their Democrat Party because they will no longer be relevant.

I think you had better check your facts.

Texas has already been divided into 5 states. Look up the old maps. At the time of annexation, the land mass of the Republic of Texas included big chunks of what became New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and a little piece of Nebraska.I think you are confusing the Louisiana Purchase with the Republic of Texas. Here's some actual data to feast on.

Snopes - Texas CAN divide itself into 5 states

“Dear lord I get tired of have to correct this old wheeze. Listen carefully. Texas has already been divided into 5 states. Look up the old maps. At the time of annexation, the land mass of the Republic of Texas included big chunks of what became New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and a little piece of Nebraska.”
Yes, I am aware that Texas once held the land that today contains some of the best ski slopes in the US. Texas once owned all the land surrounding the Rio Grande all the way up to and including central Colorado.
For an old map, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas
Texas sold a portion of its northern land to the US in exchange for the US assuming a bunch of lingering Texas debt. The reason was that back in the 1840s, that land was not accessible to Texans.

This sale of land to the US had nothing to do with Texas’ right to split up into several smaller states.

He mentioned the Constitution, does that make this dufus a right wing extremist?

I never get tired of posting this. This is the First Article of the Texas Constitution:

CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF TEXAS.
PREAMBLE.
Humbly invoking the blessing of Almighty God, the people of the State of Texas do ordain and establish this Constitution.

ARTICLE I.

Bill of Rights. That the general, great and essential principles of liberty and free government may be recognized and established, we declare:

SECTION 1. Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States; and the maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the Union depend upon the preservation of the right of local self-government unimpaired to all the States.

SEC. 2. All political power is inherent in the people and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.

Link And if you go on reading the rest, I think you would agree that most of our states in the USA could learn a heck of a lot from Texas.
