What part of Texas is Rodney Ellis from? DC, Boston, New York, San Francisco, or Seattle?

The Third Ward of Houston. His district includes lots of the same constituents as Sheila Jackson Lee's.

“Today, Texas State Sen. Rodney Ellis (D) rightly condemned his state’s very fringe Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) for his unconstitutional and outrageously dishonest rant about Texas secession:”

He mentioned the Constitution, does that make this dufus a right wing extremist? Or is that designation reserved for conservatives.

BTW, every Texan I know agrees with the Gov.

I would imagine a black, democrat, liberal senator such as this guy would be terrified of secession. He would be out of a job if only conservatives were voting. The secession of Texas would start all kinds of movements across the country, most of them bad for liberals. These people are terrified of what they have started with their facist BS. They better be terrified, their little commie dictator house of cards is about to come tumbling down.

Dear lord I get tired of have to correct this old wheeze. Listen carefully. Texas has already been divided into 5 states. Look up the old maps. At the time of annexation, the land mass of the Republic of Texas included big chunks of what became New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and a little piece of Nebraska.

“Are they refering to Waco?”

If they are, they have their facts wrong: It wasn’t Texas LAWE that conducted that operation; it was the feds.

Normally it’s not a topic that I think should be brought up by serious leaders. But on this occasion, the timing was right. With the country descending into Obama’s socialist thugocracy, it IS the time to start drawing lines in the sand. If Obama continues this inherently anti-American, Chavez-style course, questions of secession, rebellion, civil war, and such will become entirely valid.

But, if Texas seceded and all of us conservatives left the USSA, what would we care?

But I don't want to leave North Dakota.

How does this nitwit figure "unconstitutional" in what Perry said?

You have to understand how the Left works -- they accuse others of doing what they are actually doing. They say seceding is unconstitutional, but the purpose of seceding would be to excape a Prez and Congress who are violating the Constitution every single day in numerous ways.

Heck, with secession! Why should it “run away”?

Texas should just invade.

"It was only 12 years ago that Texas had a deadly stand-off with those urging secession"

Are they refering to Waco?

No, I think he's refering to a small group of anarchists who believed the government had no right to tax them. They held their own families hostage and had an armed standoff with state police for a couple of weeks. To call them secessionists is intentionally misleading.

"Apparently the author is far too busy to bother himself to look up the Texas State Constitution..."

If liberals only spoke of things they know and understand they wouldn't get to say much in polite company.

Though, as I've said before, with the exception of the great city of Austin, I wouldn't shed many tears to see Texas leave. If they did, the Republican Party would not win another presidential election in my lifetime, it would ensure an even more Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate and House, and we'd solve about half of the challenge of our Mexico border problems."

There's a number of parts to Sen. Ellis' statement that deserve commentary.
1) He would shed tears over the loss of Austin but not his own district in Houston. Hmmmmmm.
2) If Texas is to successfully secede, we will need to have talking points to sell the liberals on the idea and Sen. Ellis gives us a good start. I think we can get mileage out of promising America will never elect another Bush to the presidency.
3) Not sure how Texas secession would solve the border problem - the way he sees it. But it would help solve the problem because we would no longer be dependent on Washington DC's sluggishness and political correctness to solve the issue. We Texans can better solve this on our own and we wouldn't jail our border guards for things like shooting at illegals.
4) BTW, Sen. Ellis. If you are upset about Texas seceeding, I guess that means you wouldn't stay in it, which would be a win/win for everybody. So, you should be on board with this.

The correct approach is to kick liberals out.

Kinda hard to kick the people out of power who have just kicked you out

If they did, the Republican Party would not win another presidential election in my lifetime, i

And in what country would that be?
If Texas would only lead the way many others would follow.

Failing that, so many people would emigrate to Texas that it would be a large productive country in its own right.

And how could the liberals survive on their own?
With the huge productivity of places like Philly, Chicago and Detroit? Hm.

I had not heard of this one. But like you said they were anarchists and not really separatist.

Hopefully the powers to be are getting a eye full from the 15th and that this will not die out and that there will be rallies on Memeorial day for all our right wing terrorist vets and on the 4th of July for all the right wing terrorist patriotic Americans and through out the year.
