“what have we here? I think we have Jihadist who had a mission to test American response to his intrusion into our air space in a civilian airplane..”
A probe - I’m with you on that.
LOL
I’m from Peoria, IL. Many of my uncles, cousins, etc. worked for Cat. Seemed to me if they weren’t on layoff, they were on strike for better pay. Especially in the 80s. Some finally got wise, moved elsewhere and found steadier work, even though at lower pay. My great grandmother retired from Cat though, and had a fairly comfortable retirement. She was careful with her money, didn’t live the high life, but had what she needed. I’m told when it was family-owned, Cat was really good to their employees and the community. That ended when the union came in. Is this another case of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs?
“Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar”. A phrase attributed to Sigmund Freud. :0)
Just an old Keyboard Cowboy
I always loved that tag)
I've been around online since 1981- CIS, Delphi, and Genie days... hard to believe, but a 300 baud modem was lightning-fast compared to the 60 word a minute teletypes I was used to.
The only problem is that the plane was not shot down. I wonder what the rules of engagement (ROE) were. If I were C-in-C my standing order would that any aircraft entering US airspace without a flight plan and failing to answer the radio within three minutes would be summarily shot down.
We don’t seem to understand that these people aim to convert, enslave and/or kill us to extinction. I don’t know what part of that people don’t understand.

Bet the farm on that!
I hope they locate his girlfriend, go through his computers, etc.. We may never learn the truth as the press moves on to other subjects. I’m still following the story about the ME students who had the explosives in their car near the base last year.

While this guy was possibly probing, possibly even to see if or how long before getting shot down - it would make sense that he wrote his girlfriend a goodbye letter. He is probably even shocked that he made it out alive.
But, you are right - it is concerning that they now know that are able to fly.
And sometimes it's an exploding cigar. :)
Canada to New Orleans in a 172?
Well, I guess I may have to take it back. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction! Apparently the guy did land on “FF”, just off Highway 60, and went to a Simmons’ gas station. And, yes, around here, a couple “good ‘ol boys” riding around together, probably wouldn’t think twice about giving a guy in a plane that just came down on a local road, a ride to a gas station. The thing that didn’t seem correct to me was that Simmons is on the other side of Van Buren and not that near Ellsinor (80 miles driving distance, according to Mapquest. I think Van Buren is larger, too.) At any rate, the local news station has good coverage on all this, up now:

What about the guy himself being a walking biological bomb?
Drops himself right in the middle of the country.
Hope the authorities are smart enough to put him in isolation.
Walking biological bomb. Read a Clancy book about it a year or so ago.
Oh boy! nopardons is back. /s
This is fun. ;0)
Our boy Buttmunch is still here. Just the one post so far. We shall see.
