A Month in the Life of George W Bush (news and photos): April 2009

As we enter April 2009 we are being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama I thought it would be nice to look back at the first 100 days of George W Bush Presidency.

The White House Website for the Bush Administration had a photo essay for the first 100 days which I am sure will provoke fond memories.

At the weekend I will post photos covering the first 2 weeks of April 2001 which once again I am sure will make us all feel nostalgic for the President we supported, respected and trusted to keep us safe for the last 8 years. Later this month I will post photos from the second half of Aril 2001 plus a selection of other photos that I am sure will be breath of fresh air and produce fond memories.

First of all before the photos I will post the text of remarks that George W Bush made at a Congressional Luncheon marking the first 100 days of the Bush Adminstration - ah those were the days.

I will also post some photos I have found of the Bush family for March 2009 including some of the former First Lady.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Dad was very impressed with eye examination, she was very thorough and took about 2 hours to do it. She will write a report to dad's GP and based on the results he will decide whether dad needs to see the consultant at the hospital or whether at present there is no need.

It will be border line as the pressure results are within the normal limits but if the last time the pressure test was taken he was much lower then the doctor may decide it wise to have a hospital appointment. Hopefully it will not be necessary as it is a major project to get him to the hospital. They will have to arrange a patient transport ambulance to collect him and return home after-wards and when he gets back the carers will need to be there to get him from the wheelchair back into bed.

I just found this via LGF

Interview: Troy Senik

We are very pleased to continue our interview series with Troy Senik. Senik was a speechwriter for President George W. Bush during his second term. Mr. Senik also served as a speechwriter for California Governor Arnold Swarzenegger and former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich. He has recently written an excellent piece showing how the Republican Party can come back in California, of all places. He has also chronicled the new Administration's decision to not continue President Bush's freedom agenda. Mr. Senik has agreed to an interview with us, and we are very grateful for his participation.

1. What struck you the most about the way President Bush acted in person?

Two things. First, you’d be hard-pressed to find another professional politician who treats his staff as well as George W. Bush. He’s a genuinely decent man and he cares deeply for the people he employs.

Second, President Bush’s intellectual abilities are dramatically undersold by most media portrayals. By his own admission, he is not a soaring orator, and you could often see his discomfort with public speeches or interviews. But when you spend time with him in a comfortable, private setting, the results are quite different.

You can read the entire interview here

Thank you, Kaslin!

I'll take substance over style EVERY time.

...besides...there were QUITE a few days when our dear President was Mr. GQ, if I recall.

AND...I'd rather have a President who DOESN'T sleep with his teleprompter!

We already knew what a gentleman GW is, but it’s nice to hear others say it, too!

Thanks for this report!

Of course we do. We saw that when he held to Saudi King's hand, when the king visited him in Crawford. The king suffered from an elderly ( he was 88 if I recall) related infirmity. The king stumbled as the started to walk and so President Bush took his hand and helped him walk

You're very welcome
