Canada has a military?
Really?
Why?
They have tax rates that are oppressive, National Health Care that sucks, and they put vinegar on their french fries.
Who would want to go there?/s

It was clearly a joke. But, jokes can be misunderstood — and he was right to apologize to those he may have unintentionally offended.
Common decency in a news-show host — who’d have thought it?

Red Eye airs weekdays at 3 a.m. on the Fox Network, which is accused of a strong right-wing bias in the U.S. Now that's a left-wing biased statement.

What a maroon.
The ratio of Canadians in the military to its population is about the same as ours. Canada’s defense forces are a part of ours. And Canadians, per man, have volunteered for rougher areas for tours (real combat work) and have performed better than those of other allies (except, perhaps for Australia—another great ally).

He should NOT have apologized for something that was miscontrued.
The CBC says worse things about American soldiers in Iraq and GG has to apologize?? Utmost BS.

I wonder about the people who go on and on about people like this guy, who was just mouthing off trying to fill air time, trying to be edgy or funny or whatever. In regular life, if someone says something offensive, and then apologizes for it, do these people say “NO! NEVER! I close the iron door on you!”?
If he didn’t apologize, that’d be one thing. He said something dumb. He apologized. What the heck more do people want from him?

What’s wrong with mocking the Canadian military?
Guys in the Canadian military aren’t just a bunch of Clay Aiken kind of guys, but they wear pink silks too!

The entire show is satire, and brilliant IMHO. Greg often mentions eating children, puppies, and houseboys kept in his cellar, but not need to apologize for them. Grow some thicker skin Canada. I don't remember Wayne and Garth having to apologize for their comedy.
Plus, any show that has Megan on in a short skirt is NOT GUILTY!!

Anyone who takes anything said on Red Eye seriously is foolish. Of course anything Bill Maher says is deadly serious.

He was making fun of the Canuk Army saying they need a year off. There is no Army in the world, that I know of gets a "king's X". The problem is they are socialists that rely on the US for protection. If they had a real military, they could protect their own country. As it is, they are just a couple of companies that are attached to the US. They are brave, capable soldiers. But their country won't back them with support.
Gutfeld was just making fun of the fact that they are all alone in a socialist wasteland. The Army loses a few Hummers and some equipment, and they are done until the budget deems it necessary to re equip them. That is the joke, not the soldiers bravery.
I think he should apologize when the Canuk's apologize for hiding our cowards and calling them hero's.

Did anyone think they'd see the day when Red Eye showed more class than the president? Compare the sincerity of Greg's apology for telling an off-color joke to Obama's apology for telling a similar, arguably worse one, and much closer to the watershed, especially considering that off-color jokes are pretty much the entire raison d'être of Red Eye ("If intelligence were sandals, I'd slip into her on the beach"). And also considering that Greg is infinitely funnier than Obama. Forget the offensiveness, Obama owes us an apology just for his profound unfunniness.

Canada has a great military, there just aren’t very many of them. They don’t need a large army because they are defended by the USA. Thems the facts, take ‘em or leave ‘em.
