Police say suspect behind two separate shootings involving officers
OAKLAND, Calif. - Four officers were in critical condition and a suspect dead on Saturday after gunfire at a traffic stop led to a massive manhunt that ended in a shootout, police said.
Two officers were shot in the first incident just after 1 p.m. after they stopped the suspect's vehicle in east Oakland, said Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason.
The suspect fled the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood, police said, leading to an intense manhunt by dozens of Oakland police, California Highway Patrol officers and Alameda County sheriff deputies.
Streets were roped off and an entire area of east Oakland shut to traffic.

I was underprivileged. My BB gun, while a Daisy, was a step down from the Red Ryder. Plastic stock, no fore stock, and the BBs loaded into the barrel shroud, not a separate feeding tube under the barrel as with the RR.
But when properly oiled, it would put a BB through an early '60s *steel* beer can. Of course my cousin's Daisy, slide action but still a spring type, would put it through BOTH sides. (His dad was a bar tender, we had lots of targets. :) )

It wasn’t that I was “privileged” - it was a working tool..
From the time I was 7 or 8, one of my farm chores was to harass the thieving crows.
A BB gun was barely adequate....but it did force me to learn tactics and strategy....
BUT- around 10 I got my first .410 and become a real terror to the wise cracking bastards....
Roll this around in your mind...
Our “dump rat” killing crew - was a bunch of kids who ran from about 10 to 13 or so... We could stand on the side of that country road with our guns and the bus would stop to pick us up - drop us a short distance from dump and do the same on the return trip.... Oh, and we could walk into ANY hardware or farm equipment store in the area and buy ammo on our dad’s account.....

(Grin!) I had one of those! I wanted a Red Ryder tho’.
If I looked hard enough in my parents’ attic, it might even still be there...
They were pretty accurate to 25’ or so, maybe a bit more with a fresh spring and new oil. And they could certainly hole a steel beer can!
Daisy BBs were the best: they poured out of the box neatly into the shroud around the barrel and flew straight. There were cheaper BBs, but Daisy were the ones best suited to the rifle.
After reading though the thread you can tell who’s real, your a Good Man DieHard.
