Some small farms and organic food growers could be placed under direct supervision of the federal government under new legislation making its way through Congress.
House Resolution 875, or the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, was introduced by Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., in February. DeLauro's husband, Stanley Greenburg, works for Monsanto the world's leading producer of herbicides and genetically engineered seed.
DeLauro's act has 39 co-sponsors and was referred to the House Agriculture Committee on Feb. 4. It calls for the creation of a Food Safety Administration to allow the government to regulate food production at all levels and even mandates property seizure, fines of up to $1 million per offense and criminal prosecution for producers, manufacturers and distributors who fail to comply with regulations.
Michael Olson, host of the Food Chain radio show and author of "Metro Farm," told WND the government should focus on regulating food production in countries such as China and Mexico rather than burdening small and organic farmers in the U.S. with overreaching regulations.
"We need somebody to watch over us when we're eating food that comes from thousands and thousands of miles away. We need some help there," he said. "But when food comes from our neighbors or from farmers who we know, we don't need all of those rules. If your neighbor sells you something that is bad and you get sick, you are going to get your hands on that farmer, and that will be the end of it. It regulates itself."

Quack, Waddle... Ping.
There’s a lot of talk about this on Glenn Beck’s 912project web site. He has the strongest national voice and would be a good spokesperson if enough people get together. There is a fear that a new “party” would eventually get corrupted just like the present parties have but with our system set up as is it would be very hard to get elected nationally as an “independent”.

I fixed it for you, I remember those walks!
In California about 10 years ago, the potato cannon was a big deal and lots of fun for a lot of people. The cops started arresting people saying they were really a type of firearm(technically they are, in reality that is BS)and that the people needed a license to own them. People such wimps here that they all caved in and stopped firing them.
Yes. It was a depression era case that basically gave FDR the power to control everything in the USA by fiat. A power that has never really been revoked since. I don’t remember the name of the exact case. Sorry.
The monsters phone number. (203) 562-3718. She needs to hear first hand how much we hate her.
Yes. Because screeching with hate always accomplishes a lot.
AMEN to that! I wrote a letter to my CongressCritter today and I let him have it, using NO UNCERTAIN TERMS.
I’m beginning to think the entire space exploration program is to find other planets with forests so we wont run out of paper for thier new laws ....
I agree, crack down on mexico and china, better yet, why are we bringing in food from there anyway ...
..let alone the cost for that much hose :)
What’s that new well and pump gonna cost? Bury some 2” PVC below the frost line and put in a self draining hydrant. That will give you plenty of pressure and no worries about it freezing.
Thanks Red_Devil 232 and Gabz
Keep it going Gabz! Good work will never become mundane!
As I drove cross-town through Dallas on this awesome day today. I witnessed several couples with their products of coitous in strollers and bags of groceries in a barrowed cart. They seemed stupidly happy. ( This was THat area of Skillman ) They have not a clue about this country or what it means to work and feel good about said work....
When I got home way out here, I clipped some mustard and chard leaves off of some plants I have labored over and enjoyed the fruits... I’m just sayin....
Yeah, I know, its for the children....
I'm in Virginia, but homemade cookies work here for me. Heck my neighbor even showed my husband where the key to the shed is so he can go get the equipment --- just as long as I keep making cookies and jellies :)
Works for me!!!!
And that is why it also has the potential to hit the home gardener as well. Lots of home gardeners sell their excess, or sell the products they make from their garden such as pickles, preserves, and jellies.
At the most, probably about 50 bucks. We have a friend who will dig the well for veggies.

That sounds interesting, except I have absolutely no idea what you mean by a "self draining hydrant." Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, what a nice thing to say :)
