[Ambassador John] Bolton: Obama Turns on Israel

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton says the Obama administration has turned on Israel in its determination to resolve the Israeli-Arab dispute.
Bolton, now an American Enterprise Institute senior fellow, writes in an opinion column appearing in the New York Post that U.S. pressure to find a solution to the decades-old conflict will be the greatest on Israel, because it is an ally.
"Almost invariably, Israel is the loser -- because Israel is the party most dependent on the United States, most subject to U.S. pressure and most susceptible to the inevitable chorus of received wisdom from Western diplomats, media and the intelligentsia demanding concessions," Bolton writes. "When pressure must be applied to make compromises, it's always easier to pressure the more reasonable side.
"How will diplomatic pressure work to change Hamas or Hezbollah, where even military force has so far failed? If anything, one can predict coming pressure on Israel to acknowledge the legitimacy of these two terrorist groups, and to negotiate with them as equals (albeit perhaps under some artful camouflage).

I wish he'd run for president.

Wouldnt have a chance, too much MSM propaganda baggage. Even though he was the best UN representative we have ever had, his dumping by the political left in congress signed his doom, politically.

I like Bolton, too - I wonder if he would even consider it. He knows what a snake pit the federal bureaucracy is.

I do too. It’s his “say it like it is” approach to things that I find refreshing.
If he were president, Iran would quickly cease being a problem, Russia would be buying their oil from us and well..... it would be a better world.

Regardless, the Jewish vote will stay solidly in Dem's pockets as is now and will continue to be there.

Many American Jews —especially the academic types—have a hard time with the Israelis, Jews who fight.

"The only understandable answer is that the Obama administration believes that Israel is as much or more of a problem as it is an ally"The only understandable answer is that the Obama administration is taking the Muslim position. Gee, who knew?

It wouldn’t be so bad if just Obama was cursed. But I feel we will be judged and cursed as a nation for turning our backs on Israel-because of Obama.

Garbage!
Using your line of reasoning, only a moderate, or someone who speaks out of both sides of their mouth can win.
Reagan had the media just as much against him, and he was neither a moderate or someone who spoke out of both sides of his mouth.

Using your line of reasoning, only a moderate, or someone who speaks out of both sides of their mouth can win. In todays political climate, only a moderate can be elected unless they have something special going for them (i.e. black) otherwise someone like Bolton is a no show politically

"In todays political climate"Since the next presidential election is Nov 2012 (unless canceled), TODAY'S climate is totally irrelevant. I suspect 2012's climate, and even 2010's to be vastly different- and a whole new ballgame.

I agree, however Boltin is a pragmatist and the last time a pragmatist was elected president was back in 1861.

In todays political climate, only a moderate can be elected... Yeah, that worked out real well for you in November, huh?
Just because you repeat the lie, doesn't make it so.
