Rep. Bill Posey, a freshman Republican from Florida, introduced a bill yesterday mirroring proposed state legislation in Missouri and elsewhere that stems from fringe doubts about Obama's eligibility for office.
The full bill text isn't yet available, and Posey's spokesman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment, but here's a summary:
H.R. 1503. A bill to amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of President to include with the committee's statement of organization a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution; to the Committee on House Administration.
Though Posey's spokesman wasn't available, a Feb. 13 letter from Posey to a constituent on the subject appears on a website pushing the story in which Posey noted that courts and Hawaii officials had rejected the claims, but didn't state his own view on the subject.

I think Obama DOES have a problem. Whether that problem is geography or paternity, I do not know for sure, but Obama is obviously hiding something.
Also, I do believe that what you have posted, directed towards me, is NOT exclusive but inclusive language, as far as who is included under the term, “Natural Born Citizen” -— No WHERE does it state, in what you have quoted, that this is the ONLY way to obtain Natural Born Citizen status.
Natural Born Citizen means that you were a citizen from the moment of Birth. Obama I am not at all sure meets that qualification, due to the age of his mother, UNLESS Obama was born on US soil, and on that point I am not sure.
However, McCain qualifies for POTUS, his parents were older than Obama’s Parents, and both were citizens of the US.
Jindal also qualifies, Jindal was born in the United States.
Ping to #59.
By this logic, we don’t have freedom of speech until law says we do.
I’m sorry to have to disagree on fundamentals. Had the Suprme Court done the job they were created for, We The People as individuals bringing suit, would have had standing to ask for the candidate to prove he is eligible according to Constitutional requirements. The Congressional branch chose to ignore the Constitutional Contract, the Judicial chose to ignore the right of the sovereign citizen to ask for proof of eligibility. So, the executive branch of this faltered government is now usurper of the sovereigns of the Constitutional Republic. What you describe is an effort to put the constitutional contract back together again once it has been pissed upon by the judici9al and congressional branches to establish an illegitimate executive, an affirmative action lying fraud who used his blackness to cower those in positions of responsibility into sitting down and shutting up. The spectale of Roberts swearing the bastard in TWICE ought to have shown US what was afoot. What a scam that was! Making a show of legitimacy, when the judge knew he was being asked by the actual sovereigns to vett this fraud and was actively ignoring thos repeated requests!
Jindal’s parents weren’t even citizens, not one of them.
You’re awfully aggressive, perhaps if you toned it down a little you wouldn’t be so obvious.
Basically you’re saying that illegals could come over here, pop out a kid, and kid could become president.
Illegal or legal, non-citizen parents cannot birth a natural born citizen even on US soil.
I have little patience for false statements. I do not care if that is obvious. I want that to be obvious.
Jindal is a Natural Born Citizen. If YOU do not want to support him, for POTUS, that is your right.
However, Jindal IS a Natural Born Citizen, by every single definition of every reputable Constitutional Scholar who has ever studied the issue.
Yes
Actually.
They can!
Learn to understand what the law says and means, not just what you want it to mean.
You lost this one.
Furthermore, McCain took up this issue, on his own, in Congress, and not a single member challenged McCain's Citizenship status.
You can find not one single law or court ruling, anywhere, which applied at the time of McCain's birth, that would indicate that McCain is NOT a Natural Born Citizen.
Folks, try to separate the law from your personal feelings about individuals.
Don't let personalities bias things. We should be trying to craft law that will survive all of us.
Typical liberal tactic, establish what will be the interpretation of the Constitution by concensus of the loudest voices, like you. When the Subpreme Court settles the Constitutional meaning of natural born citizen as it applies to the eligibility for president, THEN you will be relevant. Until then, making empty claims is merely your specious opinion.
Hear hear!
Now I suggest Mr.Posey hire a food taster and a mail opener, and never travel anywhere alone for the rest of his life!
It isn’t about winning and losing for me.
I just like to KNOW the facts of things.
Do you have a source/link to “the law passed by Congress and signed by a United States President and which is now recognized by the Department of State of the United States of America.”
That a single congess critter didn’t challenge McCain means nothing. That bunch is useless. They’re all just grabbing everything they can get their hands on.
Second
I have made a very logical, very legal, very understandable argument which you have failed to refute, or even answer very effectively.
Natural Born Citizen is the Opposite of Naturalized Citizen.
Can you show me where anyone, with any authority, disagrees with me on this point?
If you are a Citizen, and you were NOT Naturalized, You are, most likely, a Natural Born Citizen.
The ONLY exceptions would be for those who Congress has retroactively granted Citizenship. However, for those select people, I do not think that “Natural Born Citizen” applies, as they were not citizens at the exact moment or time of Birth.
My position has been consistent and sound, on EVERY “birther” thread. There is NO way that you can call me a “liberal” on this issue.
I want Obama to produce his Passport, his College Admission Records and a Certified Copy of his Original Birth Certificate.
How in the world can you call me a “liberal” while I hold all of these positions?
Congress is a CONSTITUTIONALLY APPOINTED body. For all of his faults, at least McCain submitted himself to Congress, for their determination of eligibility, before the election.
