Former Rep. Pat Toomey (R PA-15), president of the Club for Growth said on WAEB, a Lehigh Valley radio show that a Primary challenge to Senator Arlen Specter is "now back on the table."
Via an email from Republican candidate for state House Ron Shegda:
"Toomey acknowledged that "Senator Specter cast the deciding vote on the very worrisome stimulus Bill, when he could have negotiated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama for more productive tax cuts and less wasteful spending."

People like Hewitt are the reason we’re in the minority.
Hey Santorum, STAY THE FRAK OUT OF IT THIS TIME!!!
Is that 250% more than the available voters in those counties?
Outstanding. Stand up PA. Way past time to start sweeping out the dirt.
WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I heard him say this on WAEB (Bobby Gunther Walsh) this AM. Toomey said the deciding factors were Specter’s vote for the economic stimulus and Specter’s support of card check.
2010 and 12 should be tidal waves for Repubs, just like 06 and 08 were for the Dems. Toomey could ride that wave to victory and we would be rid of Ol’ Magic Bullet, Scotsman Specter.
Directly to Toomey, not the RNC! Steele hasn’t yet proven himself trustworthy enough not to support another RINO or Specter himself.
“Where do I send money?”
The question of the day. We want IN.
Good!
Go Pat!
Who among us can EVER forget?
Yes!!! Thanks Toomey... we need a CONSERVATIVE in the keystone state!!!
I gave up on Hewiit long ago. He's a shrill schill for the Beltway Branch of the GOP, part of the GOP's strategy for losing and a complete waste of bandwidth.
That would be Bush, and Santorum, who may have had some arm twisting from the President.

Five years ago that would have been the smartest strategy for conservatives to pursue. There is no way on God's green earth that an across-the-board conservative would have then been or could be now elected Senator in PA. That's a cold hard fact of life that some FReepers just can't seem to grasp.(Ironically many of the conservatives here who can't seem to get that unfortunate reality are the same ones most loudly bemoaning the fact that we are all surrounded by liberals!) At the time, we were lucky to have a Senator who, in the misguided name of 'moderation', would occasionally feel obliged to vote with us on important legislation.
But his strategic value to conservatives has undoubtedly expired with his Porkulus vote. On something as critically important as stemming the destruction of the very America that we, our parents & grandparents were privileged to have known & forcing the next generation of Americans into indentured servitude to the statists' agenda of an omnipotent central government instead, Arlen Spector proved he is neither conservative, nor moderate, nor for that matter even liberal. He's just a corrupt, unethical & thoroughly amoral slime who was willing to sell out his country & his own grandkids' economic futures in exchange for a single suck-up dinner with the President & a few pieces of silver to take home to the folks.
Close future votes be damned, in the long run conservatives are much better off with a corrupt unethical & thoroughly amoral slime who wears a "D" after his name than one who wears an "R".
Funny you should mention that - I went back over the old '04 threads and am pinging a couple of longtime FReepers who said exactly that at the time.
So, it's five years later. Bush is gone. Santorum is history. And Arlen is still with us, giving Zero the final nail in our nation's march towards socialism.
How's that "pragmatic" Specter vote looking now?
P.S. There were numerous others who said the same thing, but most were banned or suspended - many during the "purge" after they tried to inflict Rudy on us.
Is it yet known who the Democrat is Toomey will lose to?
RNC called this weekend about asking for a donation; I asked him how the RNC was going to punish Specter, Snowe, and Collins. His reply was that he didn’t know, but it was important that we do not lose their votes. I kinda exploded then, saying they’d already sold their votes to the DNC a dozen times over for important Bills, that we can only depend on them to back-stab us. I finished saying that I wouldn’t send one thin dime until I see all three of them on Fox news whining abou tbeing punished so harshly by the RNC. Caller hung up.
