Jindal:
As I grew up, my mom and dad taught me the values that attracted them to this country -- and they instilled in me an immigrant's wonder at the greatness of America. As a child, I remember going to the grocery store with my dad. Growing up in India, he had seen extreme poverty. And as we walked through the aisles, looking at the endless variety on the shelves, he would tell me: 'Bobby, Americans can do anything.'
Obama:
...Dillon, South Carolina - a place where the ceilings leak, the paint peels off the walls, and they have to stop teaching six times a day because the train barrels by their classroom. She has been told that her school is hopeless, but the other day after class she went to the public library and typed up a letter to the people sitting in this room. She even asked her principal for the money to buy a stamp. The letter asks us for help...

Federal funding does not prevent natural disasters. Being the governor of Louisiana, Jindal knows this.
Can you say RomneyCare and pro-choice? No RINOs in 2012!
When the rest of the country is paying $8.00 gas in 2 years, they won’t care.
BTW, right now would be a great time to go long RBOB futures.
You are right, Federal funding does not prevent natural disasters. However, proper monitoring of potential dangerous events is extremely important. How many lives has the National Weather Service saved because of improvements in monitoring of developing hurricanes?
I am currently researching a historical novel covering the terrible Mt. Pelee eruption in Martinique in 1902 that killed close to 40,000 people, and the neighboring eruption of La Soufrier in St. Vincent that killed 2,000. In the process I have read a number of recent books on volcanic events. One fact that shows up repeatedly is the lack of monitoring equipment, and training of the people to use them, that would enable better predictions to be made regarding dangerous eruptions. It is important to note that the careful and terrifically courageous monitoring of Pinatubo that was done with the borrowed equipment from the USA kept this monsterous eruption from killing no more than 500 people. Unfortunately, most of the equipment was destroyed in the eruption.
“presentation and strategy”
I was clipping old newspapers and ran across an attempt by Newt Gingrich to use UTube in a creative way. Unfortunately, it appeared to have bombed, as he managed to insult many in his target audience, and muffed his apology.
“He was born on American soil, thus a natural born citizen.” The words of the men who wrote the Constitution do not agree with your assessment. I understand why you waqnt that to be the reality, but it is not. Natural born citizen is a special category for defining a person born of TWO American citizen parents. There is still discussion as to whether such a child of TWO American citizen parents has to be born on U.S. soil, also, but I am not addressing that presently, just the TWO American citizen parents.
I’m reticent to put it in those terms. I think the folks who saw Jindal in a different light than I did still want what is best for Conservatism. We just disagree on methods at times.
I appreciate your words of agreement. I’m glad we did come down on the same side on this one.
Thanks for the comments. I agree that he is vulnerable, but then I am a member of the choir.
While I didn’t think that Jindal’s speech was worth so much complaining about, I do remember that the first time I heard Obama. I think it was at the Democrat Convention, I put down my sewing and looked up, saying, “Wow, who is this guy, he can really speak. I’ll bet he has a future.” Note, this is not saying anything about the content of what he was saying, just the delivery.
Regarding stimulus money for volcanic monitoring.
My understanding is stimulus is to be spent for things that can be gotten moving rather quickly, and/or have long range benefits. I suspect that there is a bunch of monitoring equipment that could be ordered rather quickly that would immediately employ the companies that manufacture it as well as the people who will install it. Since we have 15 or 20 major volcanic areas or more in this country and since each area could use a number of pieces of equipment, this could add up. Actually, this is an interesting question that I may do more research on.
The latter can be fixed with coaching and practice. He's a young man with a good future ahead of him.
You win some, you lose some.
Unfortunately, when it comes to democrats we are dealing with lawyers instead of business men and women and they really don’t seem to understand how the economy trickles down to create jobs. I thought this before, but after his economic comments today I am convinced we are in very big trouble with the people running our country right now.
I’d much rather listen to a gentle Mr Rogers with common sense that the ovebearing mussoliniesque buffoon Obama.
Natural born could be imprecise wording, granted.
However, I was using it to get across a concept I was pursuing rather than precise wording in the Constitution.
Which was that he was born here.
Your post focused on the parents not being citizens at his birth.
Now you tell me...if Barack Obama became President without bothering to prove his qualifications under the Constitution regarding his citizenship, now what??
Some people claim McCain isn’t qualified and have said so for a long time.
He was the Republican candidate and would be President had he won the election.
Your statement was a flat prediction that because of citizenship issues Jindal can’t/won’t ever be President.
Courts are staying out of this issue.
Schumer/the Media et al are scared to death of Jindal and have set out to destroy him.
The RNC and Congressional Republicans chose him to counter Obama.
There’s a reason for the way things unfold, under the underlying supposition that Jindal is a potential President.
Do you really think America will swing that far to the right in 4 years? Unless you have us Reagan Republicans (ala what you call RINOS - ala Romney, Huckabee, Hagel, McCain, Crist) united, then we’re gonna get smoked again. I’m all for Jindal if he can get more polished or a guy like Sanford as well.
I'm saying what I'm saying because I care. I want us to make sure we choose a Conservative that can win. I heard him on the TODAY show, and he was wonderful. He needs work with his teleprompter speech-giving abilities, and he doesn't look his best, when he smiles. This is a visual society we live in...I'm sorry, but that's JUST the way it is. The content of what Jindal said was fabulous, refreshing, and right on target.
Do NOT get on my case for telling the truth.
YES....SANFORD...he was superb on FOX News Sunday...superb!!!
Really saddens me to read some of the downright NASTY FR swipes at Jindal! Guess you prefer the teleprompter reading skills of the kenyan?!
Perhaps consillatory McCain will run in 2012 ;(
BTW, kenyan did not fool Wall Street as DOW futures are DOWWWWN
