I might agree with Claire Wolfe, except that even during the American Revolution, a full one-third of Colonists were against going to war against England for our Independence.

Another one-third were totally ambivalent.

There are a lot people who say only a handful of Americans would rise against tyranny with firearms.

That may be true of the first wave.

If 300 armed American men fought to the death against tyranny, they would be everlasting martyrs to inspire millions of armed Americans to do likewise.

Their names would be chiseled in stone for all posterity to read.

The 300 Spartans chose certain death over living under tyranny and their courage shouts across the centuries and inspires us to this very day.

A handful of armed men, determined to lay down their lives for liberty and slaughtered by the U.S. military in response, would spawn a wildfire, bloody American revolution of a size no government could stop.

If you think the militay would not fire on Americans apparently you have forgotten Detroit and the 82nd, the racial unrest in the South. Troops on schoolhouse steps. MLK’s death, there were troops armed and primed to move into Washington DC with orders to fire on anyone who was firing a weapon, but luckily weren’t needed.
So don’t think the military would be 100% behind you.
Hurly

You’re forgetting one important thing.

History is written by the victors.

We would have the vast majority of x-military with us, I just wish they would have access to the weaponry...

“Showing up and confronting your congresscritter when they make public appearances, as I did recently with mine, and keeping up the phone calls to their offices, writing them letters, using every available opportunity to teach conservatism, etc., might be all that is necessary.”

The problem is that the majority of people that show up at the meetings and write their congressman, are doing so to beg for more handouts and Gov programs.
The next month, the very same mob of idiots will show up and write to complain about high taxes! There is no way to win at this when STUPID people are allowed to vote!

Went to WalMart and got 2 boxes of Winchester 9-mm but it was expensive. Gonna buy some on Ammunitiontogo.com. Got my son some bullets for Christmas from there and only had a 10-14 day wait. You gotta remember, tho, we’re neophytes here. Luckily, our son has been trying to educate us about guns and stuff, but we’re open to suggestions....

Your right and that's where it will be at! Unfortunately, for a lot of us, we're quickly graying and not as mobile as we used to be.

With all due respect to your friend...I take issue with that statement. There are a lot of dedicated, intelligent, caring and loving teachers out there who are trying their utmost to educate the students in their charge. They can’t help the chaos in the classrooms or the lack of parental interest at home or those dictating what they can teach, say and how to grade. They certainly work for pennies with no respect and no help.
God bless the dedicated teachers. They deserve all our help, respect and understanding and...I applaud them.

Ok, what’s the No. 1 issue (according to you)?

I’ve been watching Beck for years. He’s about 99% dead on and he’s saying things no one else will say.

Him and Marc Levin and (sometimes) Boortz.

Try gunbroker.com for guns or ammo.

They have anything and everything you want. Good prices too.

I highly doubt the American military will fire on their own. They know what’s at stake.

The issue of the average citizen’s knowledge of weapons and fighting is important and will have to be addressed by those with military training and combat experience. I have no military background but have taken four 5-day courses at Gunsite as my major training. Each course was a valuable learning experience that made me realize exactly how little I knew about the effective practical use of firearms in real world situations. I now consider myself to be minimally qualified to engage in an organized fight, my big drawback being my lack of any combat time. Those persons who recently bought a rifle and shot it a few times off a bench rest would find themselves woefully unprepared in a fight against any organized force.

“Those in favor of government funding will pitch against those who don’t. There will be a civil war of sorts, with the “govies” encouraging the NG to fire at will.”

I agree with your thoughts. There are maybe 40% of us that are fed up with socialism and pending marxism, and not following the constitution. But there are at least 40% who are just as adamant about making marxism happen to American. And, of course, the oblivous 20% that can’t figure anything out.

The slackers in society will not give up without a fight - afterall, they have been winning steadily for almost 100 years.

I still think the only really possible outcome is divorce - USA and PRA (People’s Republik of Amerika). Hearts and minds of either side will not be changed - then it is time to go our separate ways.
