In Pennsylvania, we have a reported 1,000,000 deer hunters. Assume 50% are conservative and have some special love of America and all she represents. Assume that 50% of that number would defend their homeland and their way of life.
Even assuming half of that number would consider taking direct action and you have 125,000.

PA is considered a Blue state.

What about the 2nd Amendment?

We strike the part about the militia, so there can be no further confusion, and we never again hear anything about our gun rights being in jeopardy.

When does the 'separation' of church and state become a policy of official atheism and a suppression of religion?

Never. There is no such separation.

how much 'policing' power do we want to give the Fed gov?

Only enough to regulate interstate commerce :)

What about the military and foreign affairs? Should a new Constitution force a libertarian, isolationist stance with a small military? Allow a draft? Require a draft? Leave things as they are?

We need a military big, and advanced enough to protect ourselves, and our interests.

I've been saying that all necessary ingredients for civil unrest and organized violence (by usually peaceful folks) are all here with the exception of hunger.

That's right around the corner! That bunch of mental giants in DC pay our farmers NOT to grow food so we will buy from other countries, (at a deficit and poisoned too). The farmers who do grow food, are growing corn for fuel because they get such a good price now. Add that to the news out of CA yesterday about having to turn off the water flow to farmers because of the drought, and that means we could actually have shortages this year!

Ever hear of John Ross? He wrote a book after Waco called Unintended Consequences.

http://www.amazon.com/Unintended-Consequences-John-Ross/dp/1888118040/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1235332857&sr=1-1

It's a novel in which people start targeting federal employees, such as fish and game, tax collectors, and the like.

I agree with most of what you said. I just think if push comes to shove we need a limited set of clearly articulated goals.

For example, "interstate commerce" means a product or service has to cross state lines for the Feds to have a say. Raich is hogwash, and if I want to make firearms (or aspirin or cars or whatever) and offer them for sale only within my state, tough noogies for the Feds.

Might this make it harder to have 'national' standards? Sure, but so what? Our liberty is more important than standardization and economy of scale.

In Pennsylvania, we have a reported 1,000,000 deer hunters.

I have a friend who said the exact same thing about Michigan. One million deer hunters. That's 2 million right there. Texas probably has several million gun owners. NM has lots of gun owners too. Over 60% of NM is rural, and we've got rattlesnakes and gangs to contend with, so most people in rural areas have guns. Several of them.

The feds know we've got 'em, but they don't know how many, nor who has them. Once they realize we aren't turning them in or registering them, they still have to figure out how they are going to take them away from us. THAT is going to be the hard part for them. They just 'assume' that we're going to turn them in or register them after they ban them. The one thing they can do is regulate the ammunition and a lot of people will be sorry they didn't stock up when they could have.

While we’re all going to be financially hurting under a larger dose of socialism, Glenn Beck’s paranoid fantasies remind me of the moonbats who believed 911 was an inside job, felt we invaded Iraq so Bush can get rich off oil, and other childish fictions.

Before I know it, we’ll be talking about Vince Foster. This entire country is stuck on stupid, including the conservatives. I know people in troubled times like to think there are stronger powers in play behind the scenes, but this is ridiculous and stupid.

Now, go ammo up for ‘Murica! Yeeeehaw cowboy! Ugh.

I have to agree with Charles over at LGF. Beck is off the deep end, and the whole armed revolt agitation is Not Helping. http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/32854_Glenn_Beck-_The_End_is_Nigh

I guess only true conservatives drink militia survivalist Kool-Aid, right?

The GOP needs to get back to meat and potatoes policy— kill the bad guys, keep our markets free, and appoint judges who know how to read.

If we look like greedy warmongers, we’ll get votes because people value their dollars and their lives. However, the “incompetent weirdo” thing doesn’t play well in most of the country. And Glenn Beck definitely is weird.

> The seed has been planted. Will it grow or will it die? That depends on each one of us. Thomas Jefferson exhorted us to refresh the tree of liberty with blood of patriots and tyrants.

Oh goodie. And what will you do when you catch that tiger by the tail, and turn the dirt into a crimson mess?

The Founding Fathers had a plan for a free America. Revolutionaries without a plan are no more than destructive thugs.

You’re right, we should just do nothing and hope the populace comes to it’s senses and votes conservative. Like that’s gonna happen.

Get real. Discounting the talk of those who worry about this using the "their nuts" hoopla that the liberals always use, contributes nothing. Instead of an attack why don't you tell us your ironclad reasons that this stuff cannot happen?

So you’re playing word games? Why can’t you just say what you mean w/o all the drama?

I don’t have time for word games. Don’t waste my time.

So the choices are either rolling over or armed revolution? I think you’ve skipped a couple of steps there, pal.

Have you actually looked at the state of politics these days? Given what you know, what would you do and tell me why you think it would work.

How’s this for a plan? We build a government that is bound by the Constitution. And madam, I and my family have served this country in peace and in war. I have earned the right to criticize my government and if need be, fight to make her hold to that Constitution. Do not insinuate that I am a thug!
