What Is Science?
"Even if all the data point to an intelligent designer, such an hypothesis is excluded from science because it is not naturalistic."
Dr. Scott Todd, Kansas State University, Nature 401(6752):423, Sept. 30, 1999
What You Will Learn
Many people do not realize that science was actually developed in Christian Europe by men who assumed that God created an orderly universe. If the universe is a product of random chance or a group of gods that interfere in the universe, there is really no reason to expect order in nature. Many of the founders of the principle scientific fields, such as Bacon, Galileo, Kepler, and Newton, were believers in a recently created earth. The idea that science cannot accept a creationist perspective is a denial of scientific history...

I answered already.
Your refusal to accept that I am a Christian is telling. To you, one cannot be a Christian without passing the test. I’m sure you don’t think Catholics and Episcopalians are Christians.
John 14:6
Scripture provides us with His written Word. Science is not the Word of God.
“There is no test. What kind of Christian are you? Do you worship Jesus or do you just study his teachings. “
You really don’t see the contradiction in that statement? REALLY?
Science is the work of man using our God-given brains. It is entirely compatible with Christianity.
It's more than hypocritical that they would object so strongly to their kids hearing something they don't want them to hear, but are so willing to force other people's kids to hear what the other parents don't want them to hear. All in the name of science.....
Exactly, and it's plain to see by now it has nothing at all to do with science.
And they go to no lengths whatsoever to dispel nonsense like algore's cult of manmade global warming, string theory or multiverse theory that I've seen.
It's all got everything to do with their sensibilities over God.
Period.
I agree that science is a practice of rationalism, but rationalism, mysticism, and materialism are not the substance of faith/belief of Scripture.
BTW, associating the brain with the mind is a separate issue.
You should focus your efforts (and yourself) on what Christianity actually is instead of what or how creationism will damage it; and what misrepresenting Christianity itself is doing to “outsiders”, and not creationism.
And no, treating kittens nice isn’t it either Bucky.
Belief in scripture as literal truth in light of the science that derives from our God-given brains is neither rational nor, in my opinion, God’s intent.
>>What Is Science?<<
Humanitys major source of advancement of productivity and understanding.
Well, the dogmatic godless secular humanist NEA PC ideologues have all but nearly destroyed it (and just about all other academic endeavors) K-12 in this country, and the empirical evidence is indisputable.
But creationism AS science, or instead of science is absolutely unacceptable.
For no other reason than allmendream (and his his ilk) says so.
Because we’ve been through all the thoroughly debunked:
“it’s not science”
“it’s religion”
“doesn’t meet this or doesn’t meet that”
AND all his strawmen have been knocked down more than sufficiently.
and any and all other insufficent reasons he’s created to date.
It logically doesn’t follow to argue that you’re a Christian and then exclaim things like “God doesn’t belong in any part of His creation” because of your inseucrities.
It’s certainly not conservative to side with the NEA on silencing Christians to prevent them from teaching how they see fit their own children, and I would argue not American.
And it makes people wonder, what’s next? Should we from this point forward demand that Christianity now somehow be sterlized of science also?
No more scientific studies or inquiries into studying prayer for instance?
What’s next, history can’t be infected by God either?
Where does liberal PC nonsense truly end?
Why not?
What stops you from killing someone when you get angry(enough) with them vs. just for the hell of it then? (pun intended)
I do believe there are social norms that help preserve order and promote societal harmony and that are in the best interest of all participants.
But what happens when these so-called societal norms break down or aren't existant in the first place? OR aren't in any way reasoable let alone normal for anyone, including said society, to any other sane rational human being? (honor killings come to mind)
Marshall Applewhite's heaven's gate cult thought it "normal to snip their testicles off and kill themselves to catch a spacehip in a comet tail to get a ride to heaven.
Hell fire and damnation aren't real either.
How so? Any proof of this?
We don't reap what we sew, in most cases.
Again, any proof?
Justice is hardly equal to the offense in so many cases and Christians take solace that "they will get theirs" when they meet God.
That depends: if someone killed someone close to you and got themselves saved in prison, by coming to know Christ and accepting Him, I can envision a situation where all parties could reunite in heaven.
It's abstract but cunning. It calms the masses.
Huh? What if the reverse was true and since no one believed in a God that knew better than we did in meting out "punishment" for "sin", we all just hunted down everyone that pissed us off and bashed their skulls in? You know, speaking of calming the masses? There simply would BE no calm? Since there'd be no sin?
And those who live outside Biblical law, in this country at least, do not fear any consequence from those who live within it.
Ummmm, usually if a person killed let's say 25 people and every single victim was a Christian, and each and everyone of their families were able to rely wholly on God, it wouldn't be the Christians the serial killer needed to worry about in the first place, but rather the state they live in, rather or not they had the lethal injection or worse yet: they rotted in prison and were abused there the rest of their days.
Quit twisting my words and reposting a false post. Remember. God is watching you and waiting.
You’re projecting. God sees projection just as He sees everything else.
Anyone that comes onto a conservative website and spouts the stuff you have and claims he’s Christian will be questioned repeatedly.
And at least a working knowledge of what it actually is would help if you’re getting tired of being questioned there confucius.
It's abstract but cunning. It calms the masses.
That sounds a little too much like the *religion is the opaite of the masses* mentality.
Nowhere in that did I use the future tense. I used the present tense. That is not projecting.
I never said *as science* nor *instead of* science.
Read the question again. It said.....Would you support the opt out option for students in the public schools in regards to teaching creation instead of an outright ban on teaching creation in science classes? One that would allow creation to be taught along with evolution but not requiring that children attend?
So your answer is *No*, you would not favor an opt out option for people who don't want their kids to hear about creation in school. That kind of mentality is why we have expensive lawsuits in schools. People just aren't willing to be reasonable.
And as far as the *teach it in religion class* tidbit that's tossed the way of creationists, we all know that that's not going to happen, because then the next cry is *teaching religion in schools*. The one school that tried it in California some years back got shredded by the very evos that throw that out as an option. IOW, it's never going to happen.
Waiting for what?
