Call to action: Conservative FReeper PAC?
Feb 12, 2009 | Jim Robinson

This may be a topic for our regional FReeper conventions coming up, but how many of you would be interested in forming an official conservative FReeper PAC for raising funds to help replace Dems and RINOs and to get conservatives elected?

Thank you Jim, for the effort you made going to Sepcter’s office to plead not to vote for this insane bill. We see tonight that most who are voting tomorrow have not even read it! We are all victims.I am so mad my husband can hardly stand it..LOL but if we don’g get fired up who in the name of God will?

This site and others like it, Rush et al will be what will save this country.

Count me in. In fact, the only thing I’ll consider donating to is a genuine grass-roots effort like this, or Palin.

Hell yes. Don't have a lot of money, but proud to be with you. I have not given any money to the GOP directly, but did contribute to https://slatecard.com/secure/donate/slatecard

This thread is something people on your ping list may want to know about. JimRob is guaging the interest level in starting a conservative FReeper PAC.

Hi Jim,

I have some professional experience in this area. I would advise you to consider other options, including creating a 527.

For a long time now, I've thought that the FR community had the potential to become the Conservative answer to MoveOn.org. But to do that, it needs a focused fundraising and activism platform - under your leadership.

I would do anything I can to help make this happen.

Those suggestions on post #37 are good. I wonder how to keep the Armanied dilettantes with more money than sense out once the ball is rolling. The ones who most often end up being RINOs.

You can’t fault the wealthy for being successful but we can honestly look at how they became rich before contributing those big checks. Ouch! That hurts! Too bad. Until a nationwide Conservative PAC vociferously excludes those who exclude qualified Americans for illegal alien labor it’s not Conservative - no matter how large their checks are. All that “reaching across the aisle” really translates to reaching into the money plate we’re all forced to contribute to.

Now that I’ve gone far over the line of putting country over profit I’m outee. Just pointing out that the cycle won’t change without vigilance against those wanting to use it for their personal benefit.

Oh crap...they’re already outside the perimeter

they’re eating the dogs! Aaah

I also think it would be a good idea to get local members elected to local Republican groups so conservatives can have more of a voice in local elections.

You're a smart cookie. We need more conservatives woven into the party machinery. I know from first-hand experience that liberals in heavily 'R' districts worm their way into local 'R' politics rather than working within the Dem party so that they have at least SOME pull in local politics.

We'll never be able to outgun the other side financially, but we have the numbers. We need to tap into that. Let the power-brokers know that we can and will put bodies in the booth for good candidates. We also need to let them know that we can and will torpedo RiNO's. I hope they're in a mood to listen after what happened to McCain.

I'm short on dough right now, but long on time. That should reverse itself sometime soon. Not sure if I'll be in Colorado or Ohio by the end of the year. More than happy to make phone calls, write letters, whatever. I also have some experience putting together direct marketing campaigns. Could be useful for fundraising and mobilizing voters.

It's been a long time since I've had the chance to cast a ballot for a conservative Presidential candidate. I'm willing to work for that.

I would be very interested, with reservations... If in fact, the PAC's operations can be guaranteed to promote Conservatism, and only Conservatism (by it's actual definition), I would happily move my political contributions wholly into it, both time and money, and would meet that contribution with a contribution to FreeRepublic as well.

No offense, meant, but if that time and money would, through pragmatism's ugly designs, wind up in the campaign of the likes of Romney or McCain, I would just as soon continue contributing the way I am now, where every-single-red-cent supports Conservatives, and Conservative causes.
