Specter crushed on all sides by stimulus vote
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review PAPolitics ^ | February 10, 2009 | Salena Zito

Arlen Specter mistakenly thought that his moderate compromise on the stimulus bill would be more warmly received.

He was wrong.

And he has a whole lot of high-level statements and primary threats as a result of the vote that backs his mistake.

The chair of the Pennsylvania State Republican Party Rob Gleason expressed

Can the people of PA organize and protest outside his Harrisburg office???

Same goes with Maine - I thought Main was more Independent - I don’t think they would like this stimulus sham either.

I wish the Senator well, but does anyone remember Danny "Rosti" Rostenkowski from Chicago when they raised taxes or cost for Social Security recipients?

The film footage I bet had been purged because Seniors attacked him, and jumped on the hood of his car like they were in a "Mosh" Pit.

I hope these scenes are not repeated.

Exactly. Obama started this Depression. He owns it. Just like Herbert Hoover.

Guy's so stupid he's afraid to point to Barney Frank as a suitible scapegoat ~ yet, he still has a chance and could do it and escape part of the blame.

But he's afraid. What has Barney got on Obama (that Sinclair doesn't).

“What is really funny is that I received a cash request for McQueegs re-election campaign via e-mail.”

As did I. He is about to find out exactly how many of those votes and contributions were not for him but against Obama.

Does anyone really believe that there will be another “election”? With a super liberal judge waiting in the wings to be promoted to the SCOTUS there will be no chance for the ‘Natural Born’ case and with the country in financial turmoil a ‘ state of emergency’ could be declared to have Obama pull a Chavez. IMHO. To the barricades, comrades!

He’s been in government for half of forever. Hell, the jerk was a staffer on the Warren Commission investigating the killing of JFK, for cripes sakes!

Flying his true color as a RINO, Specter more than likely wants to retire thus has nothing to lose by his vote on the Stimulus. It’s hard to believe he’s been in office as long as he has, at least as a republican.

Specter can be turned. Maybe even the Evil Twins as well.

Appreciate the optimism but you do know that is an insane idea.

We have been talking about these 3 subhumans stabbing the GOP in the back for going on 10 years.

The GOP doesn't even have a primary spokesman.

I went to GOP.com.

Not a word on what UNCLE STEELE is going to do about the traitors.

This won't be resolved at the ballot box.

Specter knew exactly what he was doing! He was told over and over again that if he voted for this mess he was going to pay for it. Now, he is complaining?!

TOUGH!

I would like to know what kind of health care this jerk and his associate jerks get and are going to get compared to us that we have to pay for.

I ain’t paying.

“Well, of course I am,” Mr. Specter said when asked if he’s worried about the conservative backlash. “But (President) John Kennedy had it right. He said, ‘Sometimes the party asks too much.’ And this is something I think is necessary for the country. It goes beyond politics. It goes beyond the Democratic or Republican position. It’s the right thing for America.”

Mr. Specter said he would have supported the package even if Democrats had not added $6.5 billion in additional money for the National Institutes of Health to the final version of the bill.

Mr. Specter had sought the money for years, and had mentioned that he wanted the money in the bill when he met with President Barack Obama last week.

“That’s only one small part ... That’s not determinative in my mind,” he said.

The stimulus vote could create “a political problem,” he said, but “I thought the public interest was so important that I have to take whatever problems it brings me.”

I am.

Time to start thinking about concrete responses to the socialist takeover of the United States.

DC politicians from both parties and the big cities against the heartland.

Define the conflict, and then develop a strategy to win.

Specter needs to be primaried out with the rest of the RINOs to make it worthwhile for someone like Sarah Palin to run in 2012.

This is also another reason why Congress still severely needs term limits!

I can't say much of anything since both of our Senators voted for the bill. But, at least, they are Democrats even though they claim to be ‘conservative’ when running for re-election!

I hope they pay after voting for this mess too!

Yep - me too. I replied that I didn’t vote for him; I voted against Zero. Then I told him it’s time for him to retire.
