So where do we go now? (vanity)
self

Posted on 02/10/2009 10:38:33 AM PST by NoobRep

So where do we as true conservatives go from here? Obviously, there is a communist takeover of this country occurring right here and now now. Would Alaska be far enough away that we could escape this tyranny? I'm 33 years old and I feel completely helpless. This is not the country I once knew. How else do we fight this communist oppression?

Hang in there. The Messiah is squandering his capital faster than I ever imagined. Porkulus announced to the country that the Dims are back as the party of big spending and big government. Tax increases to pay for all that won't be far behind.

Four years after Jimmuh we got Reagan. Two years after Bill and Hill we got a congressional majority. And they never did anything like this.

What? You don’t feel invigorated for the next battle? This is the time for the creativity and intellectual skills to be used AGAINST the Government!
Stand and fight. Teach your children well about individual liberty and economic freedom!
This happens often. This more blatant than in the past. But the 1930’s turmoil was actually because of such a situation. The 1970’s we had a ‘barter economy’. They make sidelines for times as these. That’s why Obama says we need to work together. Do not become a martyr! Act in your own rational self interest!
Socialism cannot thrive without capitalism. We’ve been in a ‘mixed economy’ for decades. It’s just the ‘progressive’ agenda is in full force. You only lose if you give up! Read “Atlas Shrugged” and make your own plan.

May I make a suggestion? Get active in your local FR groups. If one isn’t near, start one.

Don't forget that somewhere north of 85% of our armed service men and women come from red counties. Far from not getting involved, I'm convinced they'd get involved on our side.

I hope that wouldn't be necessary. We just have to make sure that we stay within the Constitution. Since the looters in the White House and elsewhere have not done so and show no signs of doing so, the military oath, "to preserve, protect, and defend the Counstitution of the United States of America" will be on our side as long as we keep this non-violent.

My wife’s family is from Columbus, GA. Her Mom and her Mom’s two sisters worked at the mills in Columbus for 30 years. The mills made carpet and various products from cotton. It was good living for them, and for thousands of others in the area. Those mills are gone now. Everything they made is now made overseas. And that scenario has been played out all over this country for the last 30 years. Until we bring this manufacturing base back to American soil we are in for tough times.

I have no idea what the exact numbers are, but I have the feeling that we make nothing here any longer. One by one all of our abilities to design and make things from raw materials have been sent elsewhere.

I am a full time freelance photographer. Several years ago I did a shoot for a company that made furniture, mostly for motels and such. They had 175 employees and they were busy on two shifts a day. That company is still there now, but all of their furniture comes from China. There are only a dozen or so people on site now, mostly accounting types.

I don’t know the answer, but at some point we’ve simply got to get back to making our own furniture, clothing, etc.

Hang in there. The Messiah is squandering his capital faster than I ever imagined.

And he had more political capital than any incoming president ever.

He came right out of the gate with rabid leftist proposals, the crowning jewel of them being that awful porkulus bill.

He showed the American people right away that he blatantly lied to them in his campaign. He lied more blatantly than any other candidate has ever done and he continues to lie while blinded by his own arrogance.

This has got to backfire on the Dems. It's got to.

The very reason that the founders set up the federalist system is that those pols who are closest to you are the most susceptible to local pressure.

Yes, let’s pressure our states to pass some sovereignty resolutions, and from those resolutions they can step to stronger steps, like refusal to comply with unconstitutional edicts.

Colorado....with much respect....the “country” WANTS this big spending, and when it fails....they will want more....and continue to vote for the Communists.

Please do not “wait” for the country to "come to Jesus". This is a result of 40 years of MSM/DNC/Academia/Hollywood propaganda. It worked.

It is not going to happen.

I would guess there are about 20% of patriots left...maybe 30%.

This is what we have to work with.

“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...And what country can preserve its liberties, if it’s rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President. November 13, 1787, letter to William S. Smith, quoted in Padover’s Jefferson On Democracy, ed., 1939

It is a good plan, if it works it needs publicity, so the like-minded out there can join....and help in the battle.

Have any legislatures voted on these resolutions?

Which Constitution?

Problem is that our Founding Fathers were a lot smarter than we were and assumed that we’d keep amendments to a minimum and not let judges determine the meaning of the Constitution depending on the “prevailing winds” theory.

Some amendments need to be rewritted (First and Second, for example) to make it absolutely clear what they protect. Others, like the 14th and 16th need to be abolished.

Secondly, the Constitution needs to be re-written to cap ALL taxes (Federal, State and Local) to a certain amount (say 10% of earnings).

Governments shall not be allowed to borrow money except in time of war. Government budgets shall not be allowed to increase faster than the rate of inflation.

Government shall not be allowed to infringe on the lawful use or possession of private property (no eminent domain).

Criminal cases must rise to the standard of civil cases: If tort can’t be proven, no case.

Etc.

Now is the time for change!

This has got to backfire on the Dems. It's got to.

It will not....the MSM/DNC/Academia/Hollywood war room is much too powerful.

We are less than zero....no one fears us.

This must be admitted and changed.....yesterday!

Colorado tanker said: "Hang in there.....Four years after Jimmuh we got Reagan. Two years after Bill and Hill we got a congressional majority. And they never did anything like this. "

That assumes a pendulum that swings back and forth. But that's not the reality of it. Government grew under Reagan, and government grew under the Republican legislature, and when has the federal government shrunk? There are some aspects of the current agenda that almost guarantee an entrenched collectivist power structure.

People may become unhappy with the government, but history and the experience of other countries shows us that people usually clamor for more of the government actions that caused the problem.

As years go by, people accept certain assumptions more and more, and I find even on Free Republic that many here can't comprehend the idea of government not doing certain functions. What is the response herre if someone says that government schools should be phased out? What if someone suggests that we should phase out driver's licenses? Drug prescriptions? Etc. People come to accept that next level of government regulation as normal and necessary. How did we ever get along before it was put in place?

WND State Sovereignty Article

There are a lot of good links. For example, the Missouri resolution specifically mentions FoCA as THE overstepping that they are responding to.

Ding Ding! We have a winner. I too have argued too often here on FR about some of the Nanny/Police State actions that some here have come to accept.

Just thinking back to when I was eight years old (1968) I realize just how much freedom we have given up. And in return for what?
