Cheney warns of new attacks
|
|
|
|
Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a high probability that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administrations policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed. In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administrations support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects. And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans and, he charged, many members of Obamas own team understand. When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry, Cheney said.

Thanks for the quick update, Velveeta.

Put this with
Airtran flight 297 on 11.17.09 and
United flight 227 on 12.09.09 (I'm a broken record here, but some might not know).
Note scarcity of media coverage on those two above incidents, and I'm thankful that flight 253 makes getting this info -- for the moment, anyway -- a bit easier to get.

You're welcome Cindy.
Actually that flight originated in Frankfurt, Germany. When the crew realized they had luggage on board but the passenger matching the luggage was not on board they made an emergency stop in Iceland to check the luggage before continuing to their final destination of Detroit.
I was waiting for more news on this "incident" but there has been none.

COPS fear that 25 British-born Muslims are plotting to bomb Western airliners.
The fanatics, in five groups, are now training at secret terror camps in Yemen.
It was there London-educated Umar Abdulmutallab, 23, prepared for his Christmas Day bid to blow up a US jet.
The British extremists in Yemen are in their early 20s and from Bradford, Luton and Leytonstone, East London.
They are due to return to the UK early in 2010 and will then await internet instructions from al-Qaeda on when to strike.

(snip) “There was nothing suspicious in his luggage,” Keflavik spokesman Fridthor Eydal told Reuters. “It seems the passenger in question somehow missed the plane after having checked in.” and “... an unfortunate coincidence.” (end snip)
Obviously it would depend on WHICH passenger “somehow” missed the plane; any way to find out?
Again, each of these odd situations, innocent as it may seem (or even actually be in itself), gives info to those paying attention and seeking to wreak havoc and mayhem.

"But how then did he get through?"I'm guessing it is easier to get through the interview when you are simply connecting in Amsterdam, rather than originating there. Also, since Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab was connecting from a flight from Nigeria, his home country, the only questions he may have been asked would be about the purpose of his trip to America. I assume if was asked, his answers were convincing.
No doubt Al Qaeda trained him for this.

The passenger who witnessed that he had no passport, sent a copy of his ticket receipt for proof he observed the terrorist before boarding. In his statement he adamantly stated the supervisor said” we let people on all the time from Nigeria without passports, due to the fact of problems with that country.” This must be a known fact to the terrorists.
Also, I have since heard a few reporters/radio personalities state Denmark has its reputation for laxity.
That if he was cleared in one country he would not be questioned in another.
All of it makes about as much sense as Napalitano
