Jim Robinson delivered the following letter to the offices of Senators Arlen Specter, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe this morning.
The Honorable Arlen Specter
711 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Sen. Specter,
On behalf of the several hundred thousand members of FreeRepublic.com, I urge you to vote against cloture and passage of the so-called stimulus bill, or as we call it, the Porkulus Bill.
We appreciate your good faith efforts on improving the bill. However, statements by your Democratic colleagues show that they have no intention of abiding by the compromises negotiated with you. In short, the Democrats are playing you and the American people for suckers.
This bill needs to be stopped. If passed, it will pile so much debt on our citizens, with more indebtedness to come with TARP and the omnibus bill, that they will become slaves to that debt and slaves to government.
As you reflect on your votes today and tomorrow, I ask you to consider what our Founding Fathers would do in this situation. Would they sacrifice and endure short term pain for the good of the Nation, or would they vote to enslave future generations with unsustainable debt for short term gain?
May God save America from its government,
James C. Robinson

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!!!
Thank you and dittos!
Listening to Rush right now and watching Zero give his speech with the sound down. Zero looks very angry this morning. I think he is headed for a major meltdown...lol
One will be hard pressed to find so few words say so much. If porkulus bursts the bond bubble, we will see inflation like none of us have ever seen. Our savings won't be worth spit.
It's too bad that the media is so silent as to the contents of the bill - although the people are solidly against it, if more people really knew what was in this monstrosity, this 'Porkulus', they'd revolt.
THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING FOR ME & MY ENTIRE FAMILY!
Bingo.
Great letter: brief, to the point, and deadly accurate. The Democrats are playing these three Senators for fools, and I fear they will not be disappointed.
Well written. Not unkind, makes the point that this is a pork bill, not a stimulus bill. Huzzah.
Nope, only Democrats do that.
The real question is ‘what is good for America’. The bad effects of the Porkubus needs to be weighed against the even bigger bad of continued rule by Obama and the Democrats.
It’s a tough call, but I come out that job one is getting Obama out of there at the earliest opportunity.
The problem with the Republicans standing firm on this issue is that the media will immediately rev-up all the cliches. It will be pointed out that Big Banks and Wall Street Fat Cats got theirs, courtesy of the GOP, but that the crippled children waiting for cold soup are now going to bed hungry, due to ‘Republican greed’.
Further, and even more devastating it will make the very serious economic problems we have “the Republicans fault”, at just the point that it is slowly dawning on people that the people in charge are the Dems and they seem frantic, confused, corrupt and unprepared.
Given all this I have long thought the the truly best response of the GOP is the EXACTLY the one we are getting. The House unanimously votes against the Porkubus. The Senate passes it, with all Dems for it and almost all Reps against it. PERFECT.
As a result: Obama owns the deficit, Obama owns the increase in US Debt, Obama owns all the fatty lard attatched to the bill, Obama owns all the corruption, and most importantly: OBAMA OWNS THE RECESSION!
His congress has given his $1 TRILLION to fix the recesssion. We have been explicitly promised MILLIONS OF NEW JOBS.
The fact is we conservatives know that the government can’t make real jobs, govt. jobs in many cases are just another tax sink hole. The Stimulus is unlikely to stimulate enough to actually end the recession, and may make it worse.
This is a story that will pay dividends for years. While it is difficult to over-emphasize the real suffering and harm that the Porkubus will do, I still take solace in the fact that the end result of this vote is transferring total, visible responsibility for the entire financial and economic malise clearly onto the weak and puny shoulders of Barack Hussein Obama.
You gotta like that, folks! So, cheer up. We win either way. (I’ve already forgiven the three turncoats for this, given the above analysis. I think they are doing the GOP’s work here, if not America’s. Still without a strong GOP & Conservative movement there is no hope for America except to become France 2.0)
They didn’t read it, just like most on the hill didn’t.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for speaking for us.....
Excellent!
“...However, statements by your Democratic colleagues show that they have no intention of abiding by the compromises negotiated with you. In short, the Democrats are playing you and the American people for suckers.”
How true. I hope the three of them take that to heart.
If anyone cares to know, I was the lady with all her 5 kids there, leaving a message for the Honorable Senator not to saddle my children with this unprincipled, un-stimulus-related debt. I want to be able to tell my children that I did all I could to stop this unprincipled pork, and unconstitutional transfer of wealth.
My children were honored to be able to thank Mr. Robinson, in person, for his service to our country. They were also able to thank the Gold Star mom, for her son's heroic sacrifice for our country. I hope they always remember this day.
The Senators’ online form email still worked as of an hour ago.... (Although I havn’t got a reply yet)
Thank you Kristinn and send our regards and appreciation to Jim Robinson for us.
