A comparison of the $827 billion economic recovery plan drafted by Senate Democrats and moderate Republicans with a $820 billion version passed by the House. Additional debt costs would add about $350 billion or more over 10 years. Many provisions expire in two years.

_House - Comparable extension of unemployment insurance; $20 billion to increase food stamp benefits by 14 percent; $2.5 billion in temporary welfare payments; $1 billion for home heating subsidies and $1 billion for community action agencies.
DIRECT CASH PAYMENTS:

I am so sick of our elected officials, and the imbecile voters who put them there.
It is NOT bi-partisan....and look for a major depression by 2010.
I have come to believe that there is no such thing as “moderate” Republican elected officials, only weak ones.
Bad news for Obama—top economist stated that 820 Billion isn’t enough to float the boat. This would be a great time to down size the government! Get rid of the failed programs and agendas that are geared towards political favors. Less is best if it means sacrificing the future. I’m all for getting the economy going but dead set against this wild spending spree. With the way things are sounding; tax dollars may be needed in our life time to fund human existence in America!
Like it or not, there will be a new Party. It can be a party like the following, if there are disruptions against its platform. Or can be a semi-secret and very informal society, the second choice being potentially and eventually more decisive. I get along quite well with my more knowledgeable and resourceful neighbors—much better than with those who continue government-business ties. And some of the neighbors are current or former “officials.” There are also other groups like ours.
Correction:
It can be a party like the following, if there are no disruptions against its platform. ...or else.
Sigh. Replace “would” with “wouldn’t”. My point is that hopefully the Republican senators are remebering again how to act like the opposition, assuming they ever knew how. IIRC, Bob Dole lost an election for us but got some of the credit for killing Hillarycare.
