Big Win For Coleman
PewerLine ^ | 2/3/08 | John Hinderaker

This report (link), hot off the press, signifies a victory for Norm Coleman in the election contest with Al Franken: the court hearing the contest has ruled that "all absentee ballots that complied with state law should be counted, along with those where errors occurred through no fault of the voter." Franken has been trying to prevent a number of ballots that complied with state law from being counted.

Actually, it’s the suburban parts of this state that are more solidly Republican. A lot of rural areas are more liberal-leaning, especially in Northern Minnesota (and not just on the Range). This is a phenomena that seems to be unique to Minnesota, Wisconsin, and eastern Iowa.

In view of the Gregg letdown and its implications, this news about Coleman has cheered me up a little.

Sheesh, there's never a dull moment in our government and political scene anymore, is there. I have to tear myself away from FR and breaking news to take care of life's little chores.....and find myself running back constantly to see what bizarre or startling news has just cropped up.

Coleman's ACU (American Conservative Union) rating hovers around 68. He's been as high as 84.

Just for the sake of comparison, the ACU ratings for the GOP Floradora Girls, Collins and Snowe (both from a socialist state like Coleman), is around 32 for each.

Comparisons are odious, so they say, but at least we see that Coleman is more than double in conservatism than the odious Doublemint Twins from Maine.

We could do worse than Sen. Coleman, in other words, given the weirdo socialist voters in his state.

The state bird of Minnesota, by the way, is the Common Loon, which is eerily apropos.

Look it up if you don't believe me, LOL.

It doesn’t really matter all that much. We either get a liberal from New York who sucks at being a comedian or we get a liberal from New York who sucks at being a Republican.

That’s nothing new for Franken.

He’s made a whole career from being utterly vile and also a whole life from being utterly shameless about being utterly vile.

I’m afraid to admit this, but part of me wants franken to steal the victory. Having him in congress “helping” the rats spread their message is probably going to help us more than having 1 more Republican senator.

In other words I think Franken may hurt the democrats more than coleman can help us. Not knocking coleman...it’s just that Franken is that bad.

I don't share your defeatist attitude. It's always darkest before dawn. What goes around comes around.....trite stuff, but age-old truisms.

If Coleman wins and that fugly porn writer loses, that's a victory no matter how you look at it.

Let the small victories roll on........and add up.

I just about blew a gasket today. Try Googling "former senator Norm Coleman".

Goebbels would have died from envy...

Franken is such a typical “liberal” Dimocrap. Lying, cheating, unethical, hypocritical, devious.

And, like all the rest, a tax cheat.

**Thinking aloud**

You know, maybe we can put Clown-Boy Franken away with the Tax Cheat label.

The Democrats are starting to get gun-shy over becoming "The Tax Cheat Party".

It's all a matter of branding...

"Does anyone know whether Franken is current on his taxes?"

Answer: There is enough smoke around Franken's taxes to cure a Jewish ham....(Pun Intended)
Franken is just another Leftist Liberal in favor of raising taxes for the people who pay them.....but not HIM.

Al Franken: The cover-up begins :May 2, 2008

We've covered the tax and legal compliance problems of Minnesota Democratic Senatorial candidate Al Franken over the past few weeks. First came the revelation of his failure to pay workers' compensation insurance in New York. Then came the revelation of his failure to file corporate tax returns in California. This week it was revealed that Franken owes $70,000 in back taxes in 17 states.

The numbers involved in the last incident are striking. Observers naturally want to know if Franken's tax problems result from an oversight or something more serious, and whether they are confined to the period acknowledged so far (2003-2006). Franken has refused to release his tax returns and filed for an extension on his 2007 return.

Franken has blamed the problems on Allen Chanzis, his New York accountant. In an interview with Minnesota Public Radio, Franken said Chanzis told him he needed to pay taxes only in states where he lived.

Yesterday the Star Tribune contacted Chanzis to get his side of the story, but the Star Tribune found that Franken seems to have been one step ahead of them. Someone had already instructed Chanzis not to talk with reporters:

Allen Chanzis, the longtime accountant for U.S. Senate hopeful Al Franken, refused to comment Wednesday evening when asked about the tax and business irregularities that have troubled Franken's candidacy in recent weeks.

Contacted at his Long Island apartment, Chanzis declined to discuss Franken's statements that the accountant's mistakes caused Franken's taxes to go unpaid in 17 states.

"I've been told to say, 'No comment,'" Chanzis said, without saying who had instructed him to do so. Refusing to discuss any mistakes, he added: "I've been told you have the information you need."

Observers also wonder whether Franken's tax problems predate 2003. On Wednesday the Star Tribune reported that Franken could not address questions regarding the period prior to 2003 because the necessary records are missing:

Asked about the taxes before 2003, campaign manager Andy Barr said Franken was unable to reconstruct his tax situation prior to 2003 because those years' financial records weren't complete. Chanzis, Barr said, "had some stuff, but you have to have everything together and it just happens that [the accountants] were able to go back to 2003."

Franken or Franken's representatives have obviously instructed Chanzis not to talk to the press. Perhaps there is an innocent explanation for this instruction, but it is untenable for Franken to blame the problems on a professional and then order him to stay mum. To outward appearances, this is a cover-up. It is perhaps the most damning development yet in the continuing saga of the comedian who hasn't been deliberately funny since the expiration of the Al Franken Decade in 1990.

“Lucky” Lyndon Johnson won his US Senate Texas seat in a recount situation where a ballot storage house burned down before a recount could happen.

It was said that large numbers of already dead people “voted” in that election.

“It’s all a matter of branding...”

You’re probably right. “Branding” is what goes for reality in America now. Image is all. Forget about that empirical and pragmatic reality, let’s just go for the image and perceptions of “reality”.

When did people stop knowing their ass from their elbow in America and the West?

In some of my recent comments about the used condom Franken, I forgot to include the word “weasel”.

Thanks for using the word and reminding me of what he is.
