Governor calls up record number of Guard troops
Some 4,600 Kentucky National Guard troops are part of a record-setting effort to dig out from a paralyzing winter storm that continues to leave hundreds of thousands Kentuckians in the dark and is being blamed on a growing number of deaths.
"We're in for a long haul here," said Gov. Steve Beshear at a Saturday night press conference at the Boone Guard Center in Frankfort. Kentucky "is in the middle of the biggest natural disaster this state has ever experienced in modern history."
Beshear said state officials have confirmed seven deaths as storm related. But, he said, a total of 21 deaths are under investigation for being caused by the fierce weather conditions.

Barry hates white people ..... just ask his grandma.
“Barry, Barry, quite contrary,
How do your orchids grow?...”
How do his poppies grow...might be more appropiate.
What good is FEMA here? I doubt very many need a FEMA trailer & it is not likely that they own a chainsaw.
Obama hates White people especially White male construction workers...he wants to deny them jobs, etc.
How about portable generators? How about helping pay for rebuilding the power system? How about paying for people's forced hotel stays while their homes are uninhabitable due to loss of power? How about those $1000 gift cards like all the downtrodden "victims" from New Orleans got.
The federal government through FEMA should spend no less, per capita, then they did in New Orleans. To do otherwise is discrimination and racist.
Ah, who cares - right, Barry?
I mean, these are just inbred white folk who didn’t vote for you anyway.
Screw ‘em.

This would be the daily double!
Hey Algore, what’s up with Kentucky, can they get some of that global warming? (I’d pay for some in Ohio right about now too!)
And my favorite, paraphrase Kanye West:
Barack Obama hates white people!
FEMA could drop off water and food and medicine. Help get gasoline for those with generators. Some may need portable heaters altho I fine that mountain folks are prepared for cold. Maybe even help the elderly get to public shelter. Some won’t leave home because of pets. Help those families with needs. Perhaps the national guard can do all this, perhaps NG could use help esp since this is going to last for quite a while. Oh I bet some folks are running out of toilet paper, kitty litter, pet food. There is much need.
Just phoned the White House Switchboard. They don’t take messages and the Comments line phone number is turned off on weekends!
So I guess I will phone the comments line tomorrow with my comment and also say that the heat in the WH needs to be turned way down. If his constituents (re: peasants) have to curb our utility bills he should set an example by doing so too.
BTW I don’t ever recall the comments line being turned off on weekends under GWB.
It’s dem governor. You can bet that if he has asked FEMA for help we will never hear about it. Wouldn’t do to upset the One.
Obama said there would be “change”, yet, he acts like the old federal goverment, doing nothing with FEMA.
I really don't know the procedure for getting FEMA involved. Does it have to come from the President?
Does anyone here know the rules? It would seem to me that FEMA can't just show up somewhere without orders/permission to do so from someone.
That man has a look, I’m here to take your soul.
MSM: “Obama heroicly enjoys Super Bowl party while people freeze to death”

That was actually the problem with Katrina. Aid was sitting on Louisiana borders, waiting. Ice trucks, food, medical supplies, etc. The dems strategized the response. IIRC, Blanco was ready to let aid in until the DNC talked to her. For his part, Nagin sent his family to the Caribbean someplace. Well paid off, weren’t they. And people died as a result. Of course, as Emmanuel said, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”
I think the governor of a state must request assistance.
