DeMint ping!
GOOD!
We need a leader.
Perhaps we have finally found one.
I wish the GOP could run Sanford/DeMint in 2012, but I don't think they're allowed to do that.
(sigh)
It's gonna be so tough to choose.
Then I called Texas Senator Cornyn's office, he's against it, period.
DeMint is now the best senator.
I am glad he and the gop are doing something, but where were they the last 8 years? is it different now since they are not the ones proposing the wasteful spending? I dont want to criticize them too much since it appears they doing something, but it doesnt wipe out their previous error in mind. I aint buying their show to save their asses in other words. of course I only rat congressmen and senators to vote for so I always vote them out to begin with.
Thanks for the info. Those are my Senators too.
Sen. Jim DeMint to help lead effort to stop stimulus
FRom a marketing standpoint this is a leftis headline
Jim Demint is against the Stimulus Bad headline, bad conservative!
Jim DeMint Fights for Lower Taxes and Against Corruption.
Do not refer to it as a “Stimulus package, call it a tax increase or out of control spending by Democrats, or a boondoggle. Use better language and complain about the slant.
Any Conservative person considering running in 2012, needs to take a long hard critical look at the Republican primary process. Then they need to get folks organized in the early states, and make sure the ground is leveled out so that they can have a reasonable chance of winning.
If we have another primary process the likes of which saw McCain win, we just as well hang it up for another four years.
Excellent!
DeMint is one of the last good men standing.
I am liking DeMint a little more every day.
‘Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way’. Perhaps DeMint can get our GOP clowns to learn, hold their line, and for once—put our country first!
In these troubling times, we need real men, real leaders, real conservatives and not these two-faced pimples we have had in this fight.
I didn’t like Hutchison’s answer of “as it is now”. We’re gonna have to stay on her and let her to to NOT vote for any stimulus bill.
Is anyone concerned about the amount of money that is being pumped into the money supply?
She better not cave!! Thanks for the info!
Just talked to Senator Inhofe’s office and he is on board with this move by DeMint.
Senator Cornyn, my senator, has been doing great work in standing up to the democrats. Hope he can hold onto the majority and if not stop this at least make it a hollow victory. If we can keep this from being a bipartisan bill then it can be hung around the neck of the democrats for years. They won't want to run on this in '10 or '12.
Wonder how many republicans it would take to make this a bipartisan bill?
...as one; Conservative had said, "It's hard to go against your own (political) President...It requires a backbone..."
Post-election Obama and ACORN ACORN enthusiastically endorsed candidate Obama in the 2008 presidential race. A fundamentally unethical group, ACORN aims at more than community organizing: it proposes social engineering. Even Fannie Mae is involved.
ACORN made headlines during the past presidential campaign, not just for candidate Barack Obamas past work with the organization, but also for revelations that it was implicated in voter fraud and embezzlement. The situation was serious enough and public enough that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops charity, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, decided to end CCHD funding of ACORN organizations because of serious concerns about financial accountability, organizational performance and political partisanship. And the CCHD doesnt defund the progressives lightly.
ACORN, an acronym for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, considers itself the nations largest community organization and a highly partisan one, at that. Its political action committee, ACORN Votes, to take an example, enthusiastically endorsed Senator Obamas run for the US presidency in February 2008.
Like most of the large community-organizing networks, ACORNs roots reach back to Saul Alinsky, the founder of contemporary organizing who left behind his vision in two books, Reveille for Radicals and Rules for Radicals.
Its a fundamentally unethical vision, however. Alinsky teaches, for example, that in politics, the ends justify the means. Specifically, he teaches organizers to seek political power by any means that accomplishes that end. Local agendas of self-interest serve a larger, organizational agenda that is sometimes diametrically opposed to the values of its membership. To support the dissonance this creates, faith-based institutions are re-evangelized to embrace liberationist theory. These are serious problems.
There are practical matters, too. Aside from instances of malfeasance which are merely an incarnation of Alinskys amoral world of power-grabs citizens must wrestle with the specific programs ACORN supports, and that support ACORN.
Related Articles North America Obama to undercut the poor According to William Donohue of the Catholic League, the restoration of U.S. monies to the UN Population Fund promised by President Obama during a recession undercuts women worldwide. It would actually eradicate the poor. Opinion War on Terror is over Complacency over the struggle between the West and Islamic terrorism has bred contempt for the Bush Administration’s efforts in the war on terror. For instance, ACORN was a major force behind the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of the late 70s, forcing banks to make Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae loans to low-income borrowers who didnt have the wherewithal to pay them back. So long as the number of such borrows remained small, banks and the federal government were able to absorb the losses. Therefore, ACORN claimed the programs were a tremendous success and pushed to expand them, reporting banks for disciplinary measures when they failed to award a sufficient number of subprime mortgages. After a while, as we saw, the system collapsed.
And motivated a housing bailout package to rescue Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae by providing them with an unlimited credit line and feeding millions of dollars back to ACORN.
Now, the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae programs are more than just about housing. Can we say social engineering? Both foundations have given money to the Washington, D.C. chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG-DC) for years. Freddie Mac has awarded grants to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest gay lobby group, to assist homosexual couples adopt children. Fannie Mae has sponsored a number of Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) events whose purpose is positive media portrayal of homosexuality.
Most egregiously, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have made substantial campaign donations to Representative Barney Frank (D-MA), an openly gay congressman who chairs the committee having oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. How is such corruption possible? Some suggest that the fact Herb Moses, a former partner of Franks, was an executive at Fannie Mae during time Frank was serving on the Committee, might have something to do with it.
So, now what? The federal government has a Self-help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP) to fund non-profit organizations (like ACORN) help those who otherwise would not become homeowners. One stipulation, however, is that prospective homebuyers must apply through current SHOP grantees of which ACORN is, of course, one. Political junkies expect the new legislative session to approve a $10 million appropriation for the SHOP program. Not bad.
Thats small potatoes, however, next to the $1 billion for Community Development Block Grants or the $4.1 billion for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. ACORN has its feet in these doors, too. So, its hardly surprising to learn that ACORNs current campaign is passage of the Economic Recovery Package. Theres gold in them ther ills.
