Limbaugh Slams Obama: Says New Prez is Not a 'Unifier'

Conservative radio king Rush Limbaugh shot back at President Obama this afternoon - saying the new commander-in-chief is "not a unifier and not bipartisan" and is "more frightened of me" than he should be of Republican leaders.

"I think [Obama] wants me to fail," Limbaugh said on his show, rebutting Obamas' comments Friday that GOP lawmakers should not be listening to the right-wing talk show host.

Prez Zings GOP Foe in Stimulating Talk

Limbaugh Fires Back

Obama had warned Republicans on Capitol Hill Friday that they need to quit listening to Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his $825 billion stimulus package.

The conservative blowhard opened his show by saying, "I'm the man you should not be listening, according to President Obama."

Republicans have said that the price tag is too big a burden for a nation crippled by debt and that it doesn't do enough to stimulate the economy by cutting taxes.

"You know, I'm concerned about the size of the package. And I'm concerned about some of the spending that's in there," House GOP Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said after the Friday meeting. "How does that stimulate the economy?"

Limbaugh also said Obama is more than happy to "see me fail."

"He's more frightened of me than he is of John Boehner, which doesn't say much for our party," said Limbaugh.

He then said Obama's comments didn't matter, arguing that the president is "sprinting so far to the left" during his first week in office.

"The Republicans haven't been listening to me, anyway," Limbaugh said. "It's a moot point."

Obama was stupid to take Limbaugh on.

Obama was, is, and ever shall be stupid.

McKinley was a unifier as well. And Harding at least attempted to restore “normalcy” before he was assassinated by Colonel House’s bagmen.

......but what are his true motives for attacking Rush?.....

First of all, he's a naive light weight. Second of all he has a Messianic complex. He thinks he was deified.

Excuse you? Rush urged people to vote for Hillary to prolong the fight because the Republicans were too gutless to damage Obama’s halo. He used Hillary as a vehicle to do it. So Stop with the lie otherwise.

Actually, it's obvious you don't listen to Rush...Ignorance is not admirable.

Listen chum, I live in Los Angeles. Rush comes on at 9:00am here, right smack during working hours. So take your snooty attitude and shove it where the sun don't shine. If you don't think ignorance is admirable, then look to your own ignorance of the fact that millions of working people do not have the opportunity to listen to Rush.

The origin of the slinky is the manufacture of steel piston rings. the coil was cut evenly to produce countless perfectly uniform rings used in the construction of engines. My father was shop foreman for American Hammer Piston company during WWII. We played with these proto slinkies as children.

As long as you have a working party system (which you didn't really have when Washington was elected or when Monroe was reelected), Presidents will get power by running down the other side.

The best "uniters" in recent decades were also the best dividers: FDR, LBJ, RMN got the country to line up on their side by making the other side look so awful that there appeared to be no alternative.

That popularity didn't last for Johnson or Nixon, any more than the high popularity of the Bushes in 1991 or 2001 lasted.

Theodore Roosevelt was probably a "unifier." He managed to win over both sides of the political spectrum and leave only voters who couldn't vote Republican because of ethnic or regional loyalties out of his camp. You couldn't do that in our highly ideological era.

Eisenhower was also probably a unifier, because he essentially won the Presidency by winning the war years before. Even a lot of the people who voted against him weren't really against him. That doesn't happen today either.

John Kennedy was a partisan divider who slammed the Republicans every chance he got in 1960. But he inherited much of the good feeling of the Eisenhower era and ended up being more popular than he probably deserved. Getting shot helped.

So let me get this staight: because you don't have the opportunity to listen to Rush, that makes you free to falsely charecterize what he says?

You have a computer obviously, and an account on FR -- it's fairly easy to figure out what Rush has been saying with those two tools.

Take your victimization, and falsehoods,  somewhere else.

RE: “Rush has some big stones in taking on the President. He really needs to watch his @$$. Der Obama Fuhrer may just have him sent to the “showers” if he’s not careful.”

Agree he should be careful, but I suspect Rush is VERY well protected! I hope he keeps fighting the good fight for our side —

Are you talking to me? I was simply stating the Alinsky ‘Rules for Radicals’ that Obama embraces.
‘You need a target of hatred for distraction.’

Inflamatory language works on the weak liberal mind everytime.

Could this be the fight that ultimately draws Rush into declaring his candidacy? Stay tuned...

Not likely he would give up his 6 hundred million contract. I would rather see him help start a new political party. Conservatives do not appear to be wanted in the GOP and I think it is time to move forward.

Agree — post-war Eisenhower era was full of good feelings and new prosperity and Kennedy inherited that, plus people thought JFK was young and had a good looking family et al. By today’s standards, Kennedy was not very far “left” at all.

And yes, the assassination so early in the presidency, before the honeymoon phase had time to be over, helped his legacy more than anything.
