PRESIDENT OBAMA TAKES ON RUSH LIMBAUGH IN NEW MEDIA WAR

WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.

"There are big things that unify Republicans and Democrats," the official said. "We shouldn't let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done."

That wasn't Obama's only jab at Republicans today.

In 8 years of all of the crap that President Bush got and all of the mean things said about him not once did he go after them or even respond. It has not even been one week and now Obama is going after Rush, and for a whole lot less.

It's a "for profit" show. His advertising rates are gonna go through the roof. Loving it.

If you read Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals (listed below) , you will see how BHO is continuing his MO... The problem is that once you’re in power (ie. communist Russia), the Rules now begin to work against you... You are now longer the Underdog, you are becoming the new target... 3 days in and BHO is making Rush the Underdog... The tables are about to turn... Hang on... This will be good...

Speaking of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals... Here they are:

RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources - money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

They have the House and the Senate.

They can and will pass what they please. Let’s hope they do.

Because when the wheels come off. As they will. We were the
the voice of dissent and reason.

They want us to go along with their crapola. If we stick to
our principles we can overcome.

I love President Bush. But I feel their contempt for him
came from the fact that he tried to work with them.

I fear his ego is going to get the best of him

I have the same worry. This is much bigger than two men. This is "progressive (far left) vs. Conservatism.

I hope Rush recognizes that. This isn't really about him at all. This is more about not wanting his socialist agenda to "succeed." Obama's biggest enemy is anyone who doesn't want his socialist agenda to become the law of the land. The only voice of opposition anyone can hear right now is Rush's.

That brings up something. If you all recall, Obama the candidate used Hannity as his foil, numerous times. To many of us in the biz, it was obvious that he was testing the waters...picking on number two. He really stayed away from Rush; methinks now that he’s actually President, he feels empowered enough to take on Number One.

He’s wrong, of course. : )

“...Why? He is more powerful where he is, behind the Golden EIB Mike...”

Beg to differ: Rush is great and he influences people who listen (operative phrase there), but he cannot prevent legislation from being passed that makes a citizen an overnight criminal from where he is. He has no veto power. Maybe from the perspective of getting people to call their Reps and Senators, yes, but if you believe that THAT will do any good right now...

I think all of us, out here, better understand the ramifications of OUR people NOT getting involved in political offices; we are effectively neutered.

They can pass legislation criminalizing ordinary folks, and we have NO ONE to stand against it. We need Judges, Reps, Senators, all ALL levels that will NOT cave in, that will NOT compromise, that will NOT “reach across the aisle”.

Tell me - HOW many Dems “reached across the aisle” for Bush throughout the years 2001-2005 when they were in the minority? They banded together, hunkered down, and basically obstinated and obfuscated everything Bush tried to get done - except the things that directly benefited their commie agenda. And all the while they were targeting SPECIFIC Senators and Reps on our side for removal (think Santorum) or smearing (think Craig) in the 2006 election cycle, and were successful.

How does our side stack up against that? How many of our guys will go toe-to-toe with that??

We NEED people like Limbaugh and Coulter who UNDERSTAND the nature of the enemy and are not afraid to get in their faces - yes, they have a bullypulpit, but it is effectively useless when it comes to the exercise of real power - and THAT is what the other side is all about - POWER - and now controls.

They HATE the fact that you own guns because it weakens THEIR power...so they’ll make laws against you and use “Officer Friendly” to do their dirty work, relying on our respect for the law for us to comply (to a degree - and they are LOSING that compliance day by day). Failing that, they will send the military against the citizens to slaughter us into obedience or oblivion.

They HATE the fact that you own property and wealth because it weakens THEIR power...so they’ll make laws against your property and find ways to deprive you of it, to the extent that you will be penniless, homeless, and what wages you still make garnished.

They HATE the fact that you believe in God because it weakens THEIR power...so they make laws to remove His name and influence from our institutions - if God is “dead”, then all things are permissible - rape, murder, etc.

They HATE the fact that Rush shines a flashlight on them and makes us LAUGH at them, because it weakens their power.
During WWII, a potent weapon (other than our Garands, BARs, Thompsons, etc) was our LAUGHTER; face it, Adolf, Tojo and Mussolini looked STUPID standing there screeching at the Volk...however, their followers were DEADLY serious.

It’s all about them, and they crave the ability to force their narcissism on us.

Remember that wonderful little quote when Klintoon was elected, and a flight of F18s flew over? “What, you mean they’re OURS now?” I think it was actor Ron Silver who said that...

Surely we have folks out here with the necessary political savvy and legal understanding and skills to thwart the subversives? Surely our side is not bereft of political talent?

I understand that the other side crawls and worms their way towards the positions they crave, selling their souls to be where they are. Our side IS different; we ARE “The Good Guys”. But we’re bringing baseball CARDS to a gunfight with the GOP that we have now - spineless weasel RINOs ready to sell us down the drain just so they can keep their jobs.

Sarah stepped up...it seems our best man was a woman (no slight there - she’s awesome)...and she got SAVAGED, and “Gentleman Johnny” did NOTHING to defend her. Would the Dems do that to one of theirs? I think not.

So until OUR people, with OUR mentality get into the political “game” and push or defend OUR values FEROCIOUSLY and with all the contempt and passion we can muster against the other side, until we are ready, willing, and able to throw ten thousand protesting Patriots into the streets at a few hours’ notice to support our causes, until we can get an equal shot at the editorial pages of newspapers and cable news shows, well, then we are moving ever and ever closer to a really horrible collision. And it may already be on us.

It ain’t about “compassionate conservativism”; it’s about Passionate American Patriotism and National Self-Defense for the survival of all that we hold dear.

New Jersey does the same. I haven’t lived in NJ for 34 yrs,yet when I sold my folks home there, after they passed away, NJ took their share of the proceeds. They wonder why everyone is leaving the State, and the majority of jobs there are government jobs. 20% of the state is pulling down a NJ pension.
BTW, I live in Texas where a lot of people are moving to from the Northeast. I welcome them, but please leave your politics at the state line. You’ve ruined the Northeast and California now you want to do the same to Texas. We are a conservative state, with a Republican dominated government, that’s why we are not on the verge of bankrupcty.
NJ has the highest taxes in the country, and one of the highest costs of living. What do they produce? Government jobs. Hey, Obama, it doesn’t work.

"You really don't want to make this a racial war, do you? Don't you think there are about as many black, brown, and yellow men AND women who have a stake in protecting our constitution"?

First, it's the new administration that brought up the issue of race: "We have to make sure these funds don't go to white, male construction workers". It's the federal government that has established who THEIR enemies are...along with the GOP, Evangelicals, Business, Energy, Military, Talk Radio....and "white males".

Do you believe that's lost on the black, brown and yellow population? Do you think they'd fight to protect the rights of the white man, as the white man did eventually fight to protect theirs?

Mostly, they'd be happy to see us go away, and they may get their wish.

The target isn’t Rush. WE’RE the target!

One is reminded of the words of the evil Alcalde in “Zorro, the Gay Blade” when told we have freedom of speech in this country and the heroine must be allowed to speak no matter how objectionable he finds her words: ‘All right, let her speak freely, but shoot anyone who listens”

Exactly right, Mariner. My point is why let the enemy determine what our rules of engagement are? Why let them decide what our motives are or should be?

The ‘base’ was not energized for McCain. The mid-term election of 2010 is only about 19 months away. Bill Clinton could tell him a thing or two about stuff like that. Rush’s ratings are fixin’ to go through the ceiling.

I suspect Rush feels like Brer Rabbit thrown into the briar patch - he’s going to be right at home there, and it’s a grand opportunity for him! I will order any new t-shirt, bumper sticker or mug that Rush’s company produces that shows his new stance as O’s opposition!

I wouldn’t put too much stock in the ratio of pro- to anti-Obama comments in the NYPost. Whenever Drudge links to a story, Drudge readers overwhelm the combox of that article. I think that’s what happened here. And Drudge readers (those who take the trouble of commenting on a story to which he links) tend to be more conservative and anti-Obama.

I know Drudge readers tend to be more conservative, but the main point is that the conservatives’ posts are making more sense than the few libs who are daring to show up there and make inane comments. That together with Obama’s poll numbers leveling off in just four days tells me that already some people are regretting his poor start this week, from all the problems related to his inaugural, to his divisive executive orders closing Gitmo and forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions here and abroad.

Clinton was in the majority then lost it in ‘94. Reid was in the majority when Rush beat him with that auctioned letter. Daschle was off and on again majority leader in the Senate and oh, btw, Rush crippled Daschle to the point he lost his election. Permanently helped scar Clinton’s legacy and Reid’s next election is in doubt.

as to McNabb, yeah, you have a point. A private business led by liberals had the power to fire Rush. What a huge loss for Rush. Denote my saracsm? especially considering all this time later Liberals are STILL trying to prove they were right about McNabb. Guess you missed the stories a couple of weeks ago that if McNabb made the superbowl and won Rush would finally be discredited. Guess what? McNabb choked and they spent the next week with their heads hanging down trying to blame everyone else on the team and not McNabb. seems to me Rush won that battle too.
