OBAMA RE-SWORN IN
At 735 pm, Roberts administred the oath of office again to obama in the map room. Robert gibbs said the wh counsel, greg craig, believes the oath was fine Tuesday, but one word was out of sequence so they did this out of a "an abundance of caution." "We decided it was so much fun..." Obama joked while sitting on a couch. Obama stood and walked over to make small talk with pool as roberts donned his black robe. "Are you ready to take the oath?" Roberts asked. "I am, and we're going to do it very slowly," obama replied. Oath took 25 seconds. After a flawless recitation, roberts smiled and said, "congratulations, again." Obama said, "thank you, sir." Smattering of applause. "All right." Obama said. "The bad news for the pool is there's 12 more balls."
"... that I will faithfully execute the office of the president of the United States" is a split infinitive. Then again, so is "I, name, do solemnly swear".
W.H. Taft and Herbert Hoover mangled the swearing in ceremony as well. Which is funny, because it's not the only point of comparison between Hoover and Obama. Both came to office in the grip of an emerging depression and both wanted to spend their way out of it. Both went into the White House overstating the importance of media relations... OH DEAR!
“Is anyone else deeply concerned about this????”
I don’t use the phrase “deeply concerned” anymore but I do think this is something to take note of. Let it be known, this people who have drawn near to God with their lips have decided not to even do that anymore.
Good point.
Napoleon Bonaparte, impatient for his coronation, snatched the crown from the hands of the Bishop and placed it on his own head.
I’m no believer in karma, but I found it incredibly telling that the oath was stumbled over, regardless of which side caused it (or interesting that both did in turn, in light of your fascinating post).
Rather than karma, may we call it “divine irony.”
Yes, I’m listening to Mike Gallegher talk about it now.
t’were it not for the bc issue, would there have been a re-sear-in at all?—i doubt it!
this issue will not go away, and it has their attention nite and day—don’t ferget that!
I find it very sad, yet not surprising, that Obama did not use a Bible. Very telling. It says that he obviously doesn't take his oath seriously and has no respect for God.
You want to try that link again? The one you posted is broken.
No he didn’t. Watch the video.
Fair criticism is fine but this oath misstep is just boring. It’s not a big deal.
To me it seemed the foul up came from the error by SCJ Roberts.
I still love the Chief Justice and doubt that those who feel the same for the self-anointed 0ne differ now either.
It sounded to me that Roberts didn’t take the traditional swearing-in-rhythm, and it sounded confusing. I don’t get trying to make political hay out of this anyway. It was smart of them to redo it since this is the only oath with exact wording as prescribed by the Constitution.
Actually it was the Pope. And some feel (apparently the minority opinion) it was planned that he crown himself as he was Emperor on his own actions, and not by the grace of God...the Pope was not pleased as being used as a prop to sanctify the event
Here’s an interesting article on it

Actually, in Ebonics its: "Day is 12 mo balls."
>>What will he do in the face of real
>>Clear & Present Danger?
1. Blame Bush
2. Ask for a do-over.
There are still mistakes in that article. One would think by now David Maraniss would have corrected previous mistakes such as the myth that Stanley Armour Dunham was NOT kicked out of school for punching the principal in the nose and that Obama Sr did NOT receive a Phd. After all this time the journalists still cannot get the myth correct, because the stories keep changing. I noticed that Maraniss said Jr marched outside the White House a year after he graduated from Columbia. Now was that before or after his year long stint working at BIC? If a story isn’t based on lies and myths then it is easier to keep it straight!
In a related story, President Obama announced that it was time to clear up any “loose ends”. “There, now I’m a natural born citizen”, he quipped, following his announcement of the annexation of Kenya as our fifty first state.
I’m seriously thinking of investing in Reynolds Aluminum and Tin Foil stock myself!! :-)
To be a fly on the wall in the background of all these upper echelon meetings and shenanigans...
I’m wondering why CJ Roberts didn’t bring one with him when he was ‘ushered’ over to HolyO’s crib?? (Unless he was blindfolded, handcuffed in the back of a limo, driven around the city for awhile, his children were threatened if he EVER spoke in public about what really occurred in the WH that night...oops, I’m gonna need a lot more tin foil for my hat!!)
“Let’s be clear about this” and “Let me be clear on this” are fast becoming the buzzwords of this administration which claims it wants total transparency—yet has the greatest oath an American can ever take re-done in complete secrecy without a Bible to swear on and without being videotaped or documented except for some audio soundbite and a picture taken by the WH photog (and boy, were the journalists at the first presser today P.O.’d about that!!!!)—things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
