I don’t have much use for David Gergen. His opinion is worthless to me. (not trying to give you trouble at all though)

Man, this guy sure gets pissy when he isn’t offered his umpteenth tour in a administration, doesn’t he?

Sheesh.

You know the speech sucked when David Rodham Gergen doesn’t gush over it.

Waa Gergen wearing a black armband? His such a sell-out to everything liberal, I thought he might be in mourning over the speech flop.

Has David Gergen had his gender re-assignment surgery yet?

The head “Yes we can!” days of 2007 are gone forever. It’s a different ballgame now, although not everyone has noticed yet.

i think this presidency is going to be a disaster for conservatism in genearl, but as far as speeches go, i don’t give a hoot and get tired of reading all the crud written trying to analyze them, this one included. Who cares? It is bread and circuses, and if you want to believe the charade, go ahead. Everything about this administration so far says corrupt as hell and clinton III.

I care about policy, appointments, legislation passed, etc.

I do not care if he can write a speech or not. The best example I can name of a major speech is the gettysburg address, mainly because it was so short.

Gergen didn’t get a thrill running up his leg like Chris Matthews? I guess Bam Bam’s speech really did suck.

I like it when Rush calls him David “Rhodam” Gergen.

The speech was underwhelming to say the least. It doesn’t make the top 10 of his speeches during the campaign.

Gergen should be prosecuted for this.

No surprises here.

Seems the folks he admired most blew themselves up building bombs.

Early in his speech, Obama said:
“Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath.”
Actually, only 43 Americans have taken the presidential oath. No, not because Obama was born in Kenya.

From Wikipedia: “There have been 43 people sworn into office, and 44 Presidencies, due to the fact that Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms and is counted chronologically as both the 22nd and the 24th President.”

This is a minor point, to be sure. It certainly isn’t as important as Dan Quayle’s misspelling of “potato.” I wonder if any of the mainstream media will point this out.

"It was not as lofty as I would have anticipated," said Gergen...

Then you should have lowered your expectations to meet the true level of the man. I know didn't even bother to listen to one single "Uh"...

It was a peaen to mediocrity. In one fell swoop Obama turned Bush into one of the greatest orators in our nation's history...no mean feat.

The Messiah who Failed
""It was not as lofty as I would have anticipated," said Gergen, noting that Obama had visited sites such as the Lincoln Memorial for inspiration. He said that while previous presidents had given inaugural speeches "speaking to the ages," Obama's speech "was speaking to this generation. It was very rooted in the here and now."

Poor David. Poor Peggy Noonan! No soaring poetry of "transformative" leadership. Imagine...a third-tier Cliffsnotes Inauguration speech. Back to waxing his pecs?

Maybe they could set the lyrics to a Rap/Hip-Hop beat?

Title: "Children of a Lesser Messiah."
