Today is the last full day that George W Bush spent in the White House as President he telephoned current and former world leaders from Oval Office.
Also in his last full day as President he commuted the sentences of two former US border guards facing more than 10 years in prison for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.
Secretary of Defense Roberts Gates will will sit out Barack Obama's inauguration at an undisclosed location as the "designated successor" in the event of a catastrophe, the White House announced Monday.
Pray for President Bush - Day 3050.
Enjoy Sanity Island on the President's last full day in office
Prayers for your friend, Jim.
I am about to leave to drive 2 hours south west to Midland. I will be standing proudly with thousands who love the Bush family.
Those of you far away, I will be there with all of you who love him sending them our warmest wishes.
God is good! He has listened to our prayers for keeping them safe and our country safe as well. I give Him all the prasie.
“Those of you far away, I will be there with all of you who love him sending them our warmest wishes.”
Please do. I’m sure there are many people here who would love to do that in person, but if you will do it for us, we would appreciate it.
That’s my solace/perspective: W is finally coming home to the Republic of Texas and DC is getting everything they deserve and more.
Happy day, in a roundabout way.....
I watched this "coronation" right up until President Bush came down the steps, then said hello to all and X42 was in the background and Laura and W were in the foreground, then it cut to just our dear President.
After that, I walked away from the TV....never to return again until Jan 20, 2013 for either Sarah or Mitt to take over.
never to return again = never to return to watch anything to do with the office of the Presidency.
At least Gates was spared the bullshit.
Bookmarked for later enjoyment!
What a great photo collage of our lovely First Lady!
See, you have something fun to do today for your birthday! How accommodating little Mary Allison was!
Good to hear he’s settling back in. I’m sure he’s SO glad to be home, and out of that hospital!
I love that show, too! It's amazing what he can do with dogs, but then as he says, he rehabilitates dogs; he TRAINS people. ;o)
Bump for later. ;-)
Well, if you make them using less butter, or use that fruit blend stuff for part of the butter, and you can use a sugar substitute for part of the sweetener, it would be health food! ;o)
I’m DVRing this season of “24”, so far, because I never finished watching Season 6! So I’m getting the DVDs from Netflix to catch up on last season, then I’ll watch, “24: Redemption”, which I also DVRd, before I get started on the new season.
I love that picture of the little girl with Spotty in the Oval Office, complete with her ‘autographed photo’ of Spotty. ;o)
I wonder how he imagines that doing so would help us in our foreign relations with Islamic nations? Whatta maroon.
Thankfully, the Founding Fathers had the prescience to require that any changes to any of the Amendments in the Constitution required the consent of 2/3ds of the states. The ERA never made it, and that was pushed like heck!
I love that picture of 41 reaching over to President Bush, after he returned to the pew, following his wonderful address that day. It was a gesture of love and pride; something that 41 has always been ready to show publicly. That’s one reason this family is so special.
Someone created a billboard with that picture and it was up, in Worcester MA,for a long time, after 9/11
