I was living in Redondo Beach during the Northridge quake and was awakened with that horrible movement and all I really remember about it was the sound of a power line arcing near my apartment (a loud cracking noise) and the other sound of everything in my shower crashing and echoing in the bathroom.

Channel 9 KCAL in LA is the only TV coverage... they say it was in Perris. about 20 minutes from here in Rancho.

If the aftershock is stronger then technically this quake would become a foreshock and the aftershock the mainshock.
Yes, it's possible this is a foreshock to a larger quake. It's far more likely it isn't. Unfortunately, you can't tell which is true beforehand.

The ground has been moving quite a bit after the initial shock. Got those weird queasy on a boat feelings. Fairly calm now.
