House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosis proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.
Pelosis rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrichs Contract with America.
In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

Dictators want dictatorial power.
Maybe her face will implode from all the botox and stretching — we can hope can’t we?
Obama-lama-ding-dong wants his New Deal programs to pass with bipartisan support so that both parties can be blamed when they fail.
Campaign for Liberty ftw
“House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes”
How about a strongly worded email? How about a sticky note put on the senate fridge?
What a bunch of pussies. They need to start screaming about this. Call press confrences, etc... Call her worse than hitler or stalin.
So, I have a Republican representative in Congress who is now not able to fully represent me because he can't offer amendments. He is no longer a full participant in Congress. No, it isn't right.
However, I do agree the Republicans should not be handing the other side the tools they need to prevent Republican progress. Fight fire with fire, play tit for tat.
The MSM will ignore this as fast as possible. The Republicans are totally screwed. There is no sympathy to be had at any outlet. The rumor is that Harry Reid will do the same for the Senate, the “nuclear option”, to remove any Republican power totally.................
Of course when the Pubs get back into power, they will change the rules right back. The MSM will be outraged that the Pubs would yield such dictatorial power, blah blah blah
The Republicans will NOT get back in power. Ever. Not in the House, not in the Senate, not in the presidency. Period. The Democrats will see to that. The “Fairness Doctrine” will stifle all the talk radio hosts, from Rush on down to your local morning shows. The McCain-Feingold (Damn them all to hell) laws are in place to stifle any financial support. The House and Senate will take whatever actions are necessary to suppress any dissent within their respective bodies. The complicit and complacent MSM will hide all actions of this nature from the public airwaves. Freedom of speech will die a slow and agonizing death..................
I see the Politburo is back in session ...
Didn’t the Dems get the filibuster rule changed from needing 50 votes to 60 when they were in the minority in the 90’s?
Just one example is Pelosi's statement shown round the world that the Republicans are the party of corruption after the Larry Craig scandal.
If any of our Republican lightweights have actually accused the Dems of now being that party of corruption, it sure hasn't been noted on any major news source.
How long did it take Hitler and his minions to go from getting in power in Germany to sending folks to concentration camps (and not just Jews). About 6-7 years?
We could boycott them, but they are just lining up for their very own bailout which the Dem majority will be happy to give them for their years of service to the cause.
Even if there were a rule, she’ll just change it.
Hey, I got that too. I was able to cancel it out but should I do something to make sure it wasn’t able to get a good hold in my computer?
Wonder if the Fairness Doctrine would mean that FR can’t block obnoxious liberal trolls from speaking their opinions? Would we have to put up with their obscenity laced tirades?
