Half white and half African. He has nothing in common with the American blacks who voted for him as the first “black” President. Oh irony. Obama’s ancestors probably sold slaves!

2002 was my first election. I liked O’Malley but thought Ryan was fine and would win so I voted for him in the primary. Do it over I’d vote for O’Malley. Of course it’s disappointing he turned a blind eye to George. Calling him a Bob Dole is a good comparison.

His elections for AG after narrowly losing to Burris weren’t that close. ‘98 was a landslide.

#

* Jim Ryan (R) (inc.), 62%
* Miriam Santos (D), 38%

# 1994 Race for state Attorney General

* Jim Ryan (R), 55%
* Al Hofeld (D), 45%

Blago came in third in Chicago and strongly won downstate, surprising given Burris’ background. The machine obviously picked him, the worst candidate to win. Burris might have won it in 1998 if not for his comments. A black guy with downstate appeal, he’s really the ideal rat candidate. Him not getting the nod in 1994 over that old lady is shocking. I guess Daley must have been pissed he ran against him and undermined him.

Wait never mind 94 came before 95. :p

Whatever the reason for the loss, total shock. Racist.

Obamanation is siding with Reid:

Obama says Senate cannot accept Blagojevich appointment
Tue Dec 30, 2008

http://uk.reuters.com/article/marketsNewsUS/idUKN3033862920081230

KAILUA, Hawaii (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Barack Obama said on Tuesday he agreed that Senate Democrats “cannot accept” any move by Illinois’ scandal-tarred governor to name a replacement for Obama’s Senate seat.

Obama said he was disappointed that Gov. Rod Blagojevich — who has been accused of trying to sell the vacant Senate seat — had appointed former state attorney general Roland Burris to fill the vacancy.

Crazy Chi Town strikes again. If Burris doesn’t back down, this will have to go to the Supreme Court. An interesting question too. But no matter who Illinois names, it will be a lib, so the country might just as well let them play as many games as they want.

And why should Obam-a weign-in on this? He will run the Executive, not the Legislative. Stay on the beach, Barack. Magic it up.

The strange way he approached the podium from the audience, as if he was not expected or showed up late

He was most definitely expected and prepared with a vile racist speech. I suspect he was running late hearing the way Burris pointed him out to Blago and wonder if he was detained in a bar or could have suffered some stroke.

Frankly I hope this drags on as the daily entertainment from Blago is more than our party can hope for.

No one can strip Blogo of his appointment rights because he hasn't been convicted of anything yet. He's still Da Guv.

At age 71, the non-radical Burris ain't gonna be no great ball of fire in the U.S. Senate in support of Obama's radical agenda. Blogo will have Burris's ear, either from Chicago or the State pen in Joliet, but he will have it.

Oh, I just bet the Jackson camp and the Obomunist camp are chomping on raw meat tonight trying to figure out what to do......and coming up with nothing.

What a great way to start the New Year, whoo, hoo!

The Illinois General Assembly has the power to pass legislation stripping the Governor of his appointment power and arrange a special election instead (of course the Governor would have to sign such a bill, but Blago had indicated that he WOULD have supported such a special election). Unfortunately for them, the Illinois RATs flip-flopped on this issue decided not to do so two weeks ago, because they were worried the GOP would win a special election in the current political climate. And Dem leader Mike Madigan was absolutely certain there was no way the Governor would appoint ANYONE, given the circumstances he was in.

I bet they regret that decision now and they're tearing their hair out today. I'm loving every minute of this.

“He appeared to be drunk to me.
No, he is just stupid”

One thing Bobby Rush is not, is stupid. See below. Also, Rush is recovering from cancer, which is why he sounds so slurred. At a recent gathering of Dems in Chicago it was reported:

“Jackson Jr. sought to make peace with fellow South Side congressman Bobby Rush, who is recovering from cancer treatment. ...”

From Wiki:

“Rush was born in Albany, Georgia. He was educated at Roosevelt University (bachelor’s degree), the University of Illinois at Chicago (master’s degree) and McCormick Theological Seminary (theology degree), all of which are in Chicago. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968, was a co-founder of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, and was an insurance agent and member of the Chicago City Council before entering the House.

Born November 23, 1946 (1946-11-23) (age 62)
Albany, Georgia
Political party Democratic
Spouse Carolyn Thomas
Residence Chicago, Illinois
Alma mater Roosevelt University
University of Illinois at Chicago

Occupation insurance agent, civil rights leader
Religion Baptist

Service/branch United States Army
Years of service 1963-1968”

The New York Times’s November 5 headline said “Racial Barrier Falls.” Maybe there was no racial barrier. Maybe Americans just hadn’t happened to elect a minority yet. But to the Times, of course, it’s all clear: we were all racists.

The Illinois General Assembly HAD that power, now it is too late. Once Obama resigned from the Senate, any law passed would have been unconstitutional. Now if the Senate refuses to seat Burris, Illinois will not have a Senator until 2011.

Since the Supreme Court ruled in 1969 that Congress cannot refuse to seat a duly-choosen member for reasons other than the person not having the Constitutional requirements for the office (in this case, over age 30, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of Illinois), it seems the only recourse Harry Reid has to stop Burris from being Senator would be to swear him in and then immediately have the Senate vote by 2/3rds majority to expel him. I’d love to see them try that, watch the RATs throw out a “respected elder statesman” of the Illinois Dems who is the first black to hold statewide office and has has never personally been accused of any wrongdoing.

Post #106 said it perfectly, if the Senate rejects Burris, Blago should select Oprah to fill the seat next, and then Mayor Richie Daley of Chicago, and then Michelle Obama... just keep going down the list of every icon of the Chicago Dem machine and start naming them one by one and watch the Dems eat their own.

You can’t pay for entertainment this good. The Illinois Legislature and the U.S. Senate have really screwed themselves by allowing RAT corruption to fester in Chicago so long.

And the icing on the cake? Even if Blago is impeached and is put on trial, he can STILL exercise his full powers as governor and appoint whoever he wants. The Illinois Senate would have to PROVE wrongdoing and vote to REMOVE him.

Until then, he’s the boss.
