Egyptian border guards have opened fire on Palestinians who breached the border to escape Israel's assault on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
An Egyptian security official said there were at least five breaches along the nine-mile border and hundreds of Palestinian residents were pouring in.
At least 300 Egyptian border guards have been rushed to the area to reseal the border, the official added on condition on anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press.
A resident of the Gaza Strip side of the border, Fida Kishta, said that Egyptian border guards opened fire to drive back the Palestinians.

One grenade, just give me one grenade...
Never will happen as long as the Arabs want the Jews dead or out of Israel!
Only killed when they are not useful at any given time to the Islamic cause.
"Obviously, these must be vile cowards, evil dog-flea Joooooooz, and other Infidel pigs who were polluting the holy Moslem lands of Greater Palista, running like the camel dung they are to save their unsavory worthless skins."
"No True Believing Musselman would run, when the other choice is to stand and throw rocks (and grenades and rockets) at Zionist Entity tanks!"
"Naturally President Mubarak and the peace loving, compassionate Egyptian people would not want them!"
"Now, I must go; I have Muslim babies to save, before the evil Jooooooooz can drink their blood."
“From that standpoint, its wrong to make light of people dying, dont you think?”
No...
First, THEY voted overwhelmingly for their terrorist government.
Second, if there are any “good” Palestinians, THEY need to control the ones who are lobbing the missiles.
From day one (1948), those Pali's that chose peace could live in Israel with full rights and citizenship. Waiting 60 years bespeaks insincerity.
Absolutely.
Too many FReepers 'read' like they're sitting in the end-zone with no shirts, their bodies painted in team colors.
I shiver when I picture somebody not familiar with FreeRepublic lurking on a thread like this.
We're not all wearing beer helmets.
Golda Mier said, The wars will stop when the Palestinians love their children more than they hate us.
Wow, that is such a profound quote I thought it should be repeated.
LOL At least Egypt has enough sense to just shoot at these subhumans.
Yep. Many posts here should be deleted.
Just out of curiosity, are there larger models of this bulldozer? I could have sworn I saw one model which was much larger.
Also, are any of them ( if there are more than one type ) armed with machine guns?
Fascinating weapon.
But no negative publicity to use against Israel.
Yes I do. The Palis have been thrown out of every country they’ve infected over the last 10 or 20 centuries.
I think it’s great that they are trying to run to Egypt.
That’s like jumping in to luxury.
I know....it all comes down to arab/muslim hatred of those evil Jooooooz.
And they waited to do this because?
“Now thats a interesting way to handle illegal border incursions!”
*************
Good point.
Not a proper defense, IMO. For example, 50% of Americans voted for McCain. Are you and I complicite now in anything Obama's adiminstration causes?
Second, if there are any good Palestinians, THEY need to control the ones who are lobbing the missiles.
LOL! Yeah...like some of us Conservatives try to do with the more strident social conservatives? .....Like my intent with my initial post on this thread? ;^)
I dissaprove of these comment, but usually ignore them as cynic rants of armchair generals, unless they become too violent.
That being said, I see nothing wrong with what the Egyptians are doing on the border, and in any war inevitably civilians will be caught up.
Also, frankly, I have close to zero sympathy for Gazans who overwhelmingly voted for Hamas, than for i.e. average Joes in countries that are ruled by illegitimate tyrannies ala N-Korea, Saddam's Iraq, the Islamic Republic Iran or Afghanistan under the Taliban.
