Egyptian border guards have opened fire on Palestinians who breached the border to escape Israel's assault on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
An Egyptian security official said there were at least five breaches along the nine-mile border and hundreds of Palestinian residents were pouring in.
At least 300 Egyptian border guards have been rushed to the area to reseal the border, the official added on condition on anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press.
A resident of the Gaza Strip side of the border, Fida Kishta, said that Egyptian border guards opened fire to drive back the Palestinians.

Reminds me of that scene from “Enemy at my Gates” where the Communist Russians told the young “recruits” headed to the front that these machine guns are to shoot you if you retreat!

No. Since they were still in Gaza - which has been their home and their only home for 40 years - they are not refugees nor did they leave their one and only homeland - Gaza.

The Egyptians are shooting people who are fleeing from the Israeli forces and the liberals here won’t say a word but we are supposed to pay the bills for people who come across our borders on their own accord. The world has gone mad.
While reading this thread I have come across your post. Are you saying that in the countries you gave examples of, these people actually had a choice on their vote?
I’m guessing that your mother isn’t Jewish. I,too, worked with a very nice palistonian(misspelling on purpose). Nice until he found out I was Jewish.

It was about folks trying to get out of Dodge. There was no indication that the people were anything less than (excuse me, future) refugees.
Send Jimmah instead. He knows how to act like an Arab already and he is one step closer to speaking Arabic thanks to those Rosetta Stone commercials.
That is the Palestinian homeland, after all.
