FYI...great read.
The best part was Mitch Rapp jamming the US Senators who are a larger enemy than the Jihadists. Yes the villains are Muslims in this book. Some Senate dumbasses die at the hands of Jihadists in this book
Thanks for the Vince Flynn review!
I haven't read anything since I've read 78 Agatha Christies in one year! I burned out, but ready to wade back in with SOMETHING.
It’s on my Xmas list. I hope Santa delivers it. Great after-Xmas read.
Agree that Flynn's latest is one to keep for reading again. He always makes you feel better after a good read. (Cussler made me feel the opposite). Flynn ... BUY IT ... Cussler ... FORGET it.
Agreed, Jeff. I read as much or more than I write and Vince Flynn is one of my favorites. I had the pleasure of meeting him at last July’s International Thriller Writers conference in NYC. (Or was it the year before? Yikes!) Anyway, he’s surely one of the best.
Vince Flynn is from my neighborhood and is a staunch conservative.

Thanks for the review. I’ve heard of Flynn or seen him on FNC but I’ve never read his books. Do you recommend starting with his first novel or can I jump in with this latest effort?
Thanks Jeff.
I’m still on the County library waiting list for this one-these rarely take me more then two days to finish off.
I also highly recommend Daniel Silva’s novels. His Israeli spy, Gabriel Allon, should have already become a Hollywood staple. Hollywood being Hollywood, however, I think it will be some time before you see either Flynn’s of Silva’s novels adopted for the big screen because both would offend those of a particular religious persuasion.
All of you would really like this book IMHO.
An important book to read, and very relevant to current affairs. At this insane time in our nation’s history, we have to be grateful for real American men in the clandestine US services, who are very much like the operatives in this book. I have known such men personally...they are fearless, brave, and true, and they do not waver with the winds of political correctness.
ping for reference - good reading list
Bump!
I’ve already read a couple of Flynn’s books, and just picked up two more. I’ve started reading Transfer Of Power and it’s a great read from page 1, like most of his books.
Vince Flynn long ago replaced Tom Clancy as my favorite author of this genre. I am not quite finished with Extreme Measures, but agree with the author: it is excellent, and there is a very interesting agenda!
I sure envy Flynn’s commercial success, but I think his writing is rotten, and his characters are cartoonish. Mitch Rapp is just the latest rehash of superduper heros like Dirk Pitt and so on. They are secretly meeting the President in the Oval Office one minute, the next they are doing a HAHO jump with Delta into an Arab capital to kidnap a jihad mastermind, and torture him to an inch of his life, before stealing an enemy fighter jet and personally flying it back to make their report. They also speak ten languages perfectly, and have supermodel triple agent girlfriends begging for them. I prefer a tad more realism even in thrillers, or pictures to go with the cartoon plotlines. I’d recommend early DeMille, Gerald Seymour (a Brit), early Stephen Hunter and some others.
