I have read all of Flynn's works. I have liked every one of them and not been disappointed.
This book was no different, though it was less a front to back barnstormer about his principle character and action hero, Mitch Rapp, than others have been.
But that's okay, I believe Flynn did that on purpose to make some other points, and the book is nonetheless a great read, delivering a timely and critical message I believe is important for all Americans to understand.
It was, for me, still a captivating thriller with enough action, and delivering a very important message for our society which I believe was the thrust of Flynn's effort here...as well as showing some of the personal cost warriors such as Rapp and Nash pay in the clandestine services while defending our nation against its enemies.
All in all, I believe the novel is a very exciting one, mingling all of these goals together into one, and I give it five stars.
Importantly, I also believe it is an excellent expose about what manner of enemy we are fighting in the Islamic Jihadists, and what measures it takes to stop them...and an equally well done expose on how the political correctness of the day, and wrangling of our current politicians can not only impeded the effort, but invite the carnage to our shores.
I would recommend "Extreme Measures" for anyone wanting to see into the mind of the enemey, and for anyone wanting to see what manner of heroes we have fighting to stop that enemy against all odds, the largest of which that are stacked against them residing right here within our own borders and within the halls of our own political institutions.
FYI...great read.
The best part was Mitch Rapp jamming the US Senators who are a larger enemy than the Jihadists. Yes the villains are Muslims in this book. Some Senate dumbasses die at the hands of Jihadists in this book
Thanks for the Vince Flynn review!
And Flynn shows that the blame falls on them. The attack could have been prevented had the political whores not got in the way.
I am afraid in reality, that the attack, when it does come, and get through, will be worse than what is described in his books.
I haven't read anything since I've read 78 Agatha Christies in one year! I burned out, but ready to wade back in with SOMETHING.
It’s on my Xmas list. I hope Santa delivers it. Great after-Xmas read.
Agree that Flynn's latest is one to keep for reading again. He always makes you feel better after a good read. (Cussler made me feel the opposite). Flynn ... BUY IT ... Cussler ... FORGET it.
But they are timely and show what it takes to defend America.
The first one was "Term Limits" and it is GREAT...they go from there. Any of them really, IMHO.
Extreme Measures is the lastest and the series does have a line to it centering around Mitch Rapp...who is kind of a CIA, Jack Ryan.
Amen.
Vince Flynn bump! A terrific novel with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end. Hope there’ll be a sequel soon!
Thanks for the info.....do women like these books?
Agreed, Jeff. I read as much or more than I write and Vince Flynn is one of my favorites. I had the pleasure of meeting him at last July’s International Thriller Writers conference in NYC. (Or was it the year before? Yikes!) Anyway, he’s surely one of the best.
And Flynn showed us how the Islamic Jihad masterminds think and why they send others to their deaths while they escape. Looking forward to KArim's demise.
Women love these books! I first heard of Flynn on Rush’s show and have been a fan from the beginning. There is a time line, so you might want to start from the beginning. Good deals on Amazon.
THANKS!
RightWingMama gave you the answer better than I could...particularly about women liking the books...hehehe! LOL!
Ditto.
Even though the scene was hard to take, Flynn did get a great job at showing what torture really is. The hysterics who accuse American servicemen of committing torture don’t have a clue what that word really means.
If we had fought WW II with the same nonsense we are applying to our brave warriors now, we would surely have lost.
but we adhered to an older school then...and,
