What's with Ben Stein?

Posted on 12/06/2008 3:09:54 PM PST by EveningStar

What's with Ben Stein, anyway? He's been acting a bit goofy for a while now, but what he said yesterday makes me wonder if he's lost it.

Michael Medved had Stein on his show yesterday. Ben made several pronouncements:

-- He supports the bailout. Moreover, he would bail out states if needed.

-- He was vehemently opposed to the Sarah Palin pick for VP. I checked out a past YouTube video where he was quite vitriolic about it.

-- He's for taxing the rich at a higher rate. OK. I already knew about this. But, WTFF???

No. I don't think he supported Obama in the election At least I hope not.

I loved Win Ben Stein’s Money. It was one of my favorite shows.

I wrote the guy off when he started supporting Creationism - uh, er - “Intelligent Design”.

I agree. He has written some great editorials but recently his views seem a bit wacky.

I think Ben’s kid is driving him nuts.

Yeah. What really bugged me about it was that he misrepresented the evolution side.

Here's what I call the Rush Limbaugh Theory of Conservatism:

You know the old saying that a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged? Well, a liberal is a conservative who has made so much money, that they couldn't possibly spend it in their lifetime.

If you spend too much time in Hollywood or Washington DC, you become acclimatized. It’s called “going native.”

Happens all the time.

I only met him once, but I got the feeling that he’s an FDR democrat at heart. He doesn’t really fit in anywhere.

Ben Stein has always been at his roots an Eastern Establishment type, more comfortable with the elites than with the grass roots.

That would certainly be a HUGE concern of mine [not], since I don’t buy into it at all as it relates to the origin of the species. Actually, I do want both sides depicted honestly, but the inability of the evolutionist to face reality, makes the intelligent design folks look like sages. And that’s something evolutions just can’t come to terms with.

Doesn't he live in Sandpoint or whatever it is Idaho just down the road from Sly Stallone and a whole bunch of Hollywood types. He's about as mainstream America as . . . well as a guy living on the beach in Malibu.

By the way, where's Mr. Precious these days?

When God chose the Jewish people as “His”, He chose them as a nation. Had he chosen them one by one, on merit and brains, some would not have gotten picked. You know what I mean.

No it is the creationists that look like idiots. There is no evidence for creationism and anyone who thinks the world is 7000 years old is no better than a flat earther or believer in Obama’s change.

Ben's more than just "acclimatized." He's part of the Hollywood machinery. He's certainly not a conservative and never has been. He plays both sides against the middle when it suits him. He's mainly interested in the greater glory and financial success of Ben Stein. He's very talented, smart and is a gifted writer.

>>Yeah. What really bugged me about it was that he misrepresented the evolution side.<<

What exactly do you feel was misrepresented in a movie stating that ID is not allowed to be talked about at University?

Could you please give an example where ID is taught at University, in a non-Catholic school or in a non-Religion class?

And please understand that the evolutionists have defined Intelligent Design as Creationism and therefore all theories of God creating the universe have been shunned unless you can prove otherwise.

If you cannot, you have proved the point of the movie.

Stein was supporting the idea that if the government wants to just print money, it’s not a problem at a time like this considering supposed deflation. He was also on board about any bailout you could imagine. It didn’t sit well with me.

“Intelligent Design” has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Bible, Genesis, Fundamentalism, or the earth being 7000 years old!
