In the office block in downtown Washington where Barack Obama's White House transition team are at work, there is no time for breaks.
Lunch is taken at desks. Staff need a good reason to go out at all.
But a little after lunch on Wednesday two Obama aides went to a local coffee shop to talk. Both were veterans of the campaign, hailed as the best organised and most disciplined in US history, which has made their boss the first black president.
Both had come to believe, in the crucible of the campaign, that Mr Obama's judgment was superior to their own. But when they met on Wednesday they agreed on one thing: "He's making a mistake." As one of the participants told a friend later that night: "She'll do a good job but she'll do it for herself, not for Barack. I can't bear the drama again."
She, of course, is Hillary Clinton, former First Lady, figurehead of Democratic women, presidential candidate with 18 million votes and now would-be Secretary of State.

Not such a bad idea for Obama to get Hillary as SOS — he can get rid of her in a year or so. She won’thave a Senate seat from which to catapult herself into the limelight again.
In effect, he’s neutralized her future threat.
Maybe we can get a good conservative to run in the New York spot against the Democrat who’ll be put into her spot when she resigns.
IMO
Me too. IMO, she has thrown in the towel on being President. The thought of another 8 yrs as the junior Senator from NY has her in a depression..She wants to DO something, make her mark, etc. Like a dog.
Thanks for that - I asked about the chain of succession the other day, because I was pretty sure the SOS was on it.
That said, as much as I dislike Hillary, I’d feel better with her as president. We know what she is. We may not like it, but we know it and we can plan accordingly.
Who the heck knows what Osama Obama is (aside from a radical Marxist)? He sure managed to get through the whole campaign without revealing this to anybody.
Did you have to do that?
Barf-o-rama.
This is self inflicted. I see Hillary’s appoinment as a win. He will be so busy trying to pull the knife out of his back that he will have less time to screw the rest of us.
Hillary will play “Colin Powell” to Obama’s “George W. Bush.” At least we have that.
On the contrary, The One (piss be upon him) revealed himself to you, me, and the world on several occasions - YouTube, the Joe-the-plumber thing, drive-by interviews.
The reason The One (his name be cursed) got away with it is because he understands a basic American principle:
No One Ever Lost An Election By Underestimating The Stupidity of The Sheep.
BO is the Klinton’s house boy.
Did you post to my Thailand crack? I’m just not being all that serious. I am trying to figure if you read my post or if you just wrote what you wanted people to read. Can’t figure out what it had to do with my post. Just sitting here minding my own biz, and your talking about pathos and strong women. I love pathos, and love strong women particularly the kind with pathos. You know... whatever.

Hell, I'm not even halfway trusting...
... meanwhile she will swear an oath to the Constitution. Go figure.
Question- How much flack as Bush gotten for Condi? The world is a mess, always as been. It will remain so. Hillary is too msart to be heavy-handed. Bill can do whatever and say whatever. This article is GREAT. The first leaks from Obama’s team, and it shows problems...UNLESS, they are being clever, and this is part of the trial balloon.
sorry :o)
She actually worked in the Senate. He just planned to run for Prez. She has little experience, it is true, but she actually HAS SOME!
I’ve read that the Clintons have something on Obama and are in control of his administration. After all of the Clinton-friendly appointments last week, I believe it.
