As Republicans sort out the reasons for their defeat, they likely will overlook or dismiss the gorilla in the pulpit.
Three little letters, great big problem: G-O-D.
I'm bathing in holy water as I type.
To be more specific, the evangelical, right-wing, oogedy-boogedy branch of the GOP is what ails the erstwhile conservative party and will continue to afflict and marginalize its constituents if reckoning doesn't soon cometh.

What’s your Fee for making such accurate predictions?
They don't seem too victimized to me. Who else can gather as an angry public mob and scream, yell and act out real hate without any consequence?! Thomas Sowell has a great article on this here.
From the article: "Blacks and Mormons have been the main targets of the gay activists anger." Just exactly who is hating and bashing who?
This Republic was founded by God-fearing people and the only way it will survive as created is to be guided by that same religiosity and belief in our Creator. "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible" ... George Washington
I don’t understand why this bitter crone of a liberal remains on TownHall. From her hate of Sarah Palin to bashing everything right winged, she belongs on DailyKOS.
Exactly.
She has a problem also, it is called H-E-L-L. That is her first and only stop.
the economy won’t matter anymore once the country goes bankrupt and the dollar is worthless. Even gold won’t help because nobody will want to give up their precious gold to buy anything.
Excellent point!
LOL. Now that was funny.
(backed up by a firearm)
firearms won’t help either because people will just gang up on you, shoot you in the back and steal your ammo and gold.
Perhaps Bush's irresponsible fiscal policies first destroyed the GOP's credibility on fiscal policy, and the party adopted the current tone out of necessity since social policy remained the only area it had a strong message. Or perhaps the shift is tone came first, and led to complacency on fiscal policy even as Republicans controlled DC, since their energy was focused elsewhere. Either way I think the problems are clearly tied together, and until they are fixed the Republican Party will never successfully appeal to a great deal of the country.
Shes an idiot,, the crux of the problem is this. We cannot “out democrat” the democrat party. If you are a leftist.. why would you vote for a watered down republican copy when you could vote dem and get the real deal.
No, our answer is to be stronger in our core principles and clean out this party.
Life, judges, guns, marriage were all part of Pres. Bush’s campaign. They were virtually excised from McCain’s.

Hmmm.... lemme spell it out for you:
1) Parker thinks the “gorilla in the pulpit” for the GOP (a play on “elephant in the living room”) is the grossly disproportionate influence of the religious right.
2) Parker thinks that this influence creates a political ideology which is increasingly out of touch with the beliefs and desires of otherwise-conservative voters.
3) I personally believe it creates a GOP that is increasingly out of touch with its longstanding principles, and perverts the meaning of the word “conservatism”.
4) So here’s the point: I largely agree with Parker. Not every word, but the general thrust of her comments.
>>>>DU talking point.<<<<<<
Sorry, I’m not from DU.
But yours is the quality of commentary found there.
we need an “all of the above” approach: social, fiscal, sovereignty (how we deal with immigration and global treaties) and national security conservatives
But you parrot their hate filled rhetoric, such as "Religionist agenda."
Why is that?
Question -
IIRC, Art 2, Sect 7 of the US Constitution says that Sunday doesn’t count when counting work days.
What underlies the US Constitution making that statement?
Do I detect a the taint of bigotry in Ms. Parker's twisted thinking...???
My guess: This is all about abortion...
