Good grief...she has 4 years to hone her skills. I agree that top of the ticket is a bit much at this stage..but give her time. Jindal is my pick for top of ticket at this point with her as VP...but that could change. 4 years is a long time in politics. We need to get geared up for 2010 though. That is where our energy needs to be right now.

You are right about that. Sarah is the GOP rock star right now. Normally the defeated VP nominee goes back to obscurity. If you're old enough, remember Bill Miller (Goldwater's VP) and his American Express commercials?

McCain at 72 obviously opens a wide span for a next or younger generation, but of those considered to be the next crew, really only Jindal would be positioned for a presidency in his 40’s. The rest I believe would be in their 50’s which puts them in their ‘CEO prime’, if you will, rather than still ‘youthful’.
That said, the Republicans obviously have a weakness for nominating old guys, and I might put Barbour at the top of my list among ‘the old guys’.

I have to agree, at this point. She’s young and she’ll grow more comfortable discussing issues at length. But anyone who can watch her today and think that she holds a candle to Jindal from a policy standpoint is in complete and utter denial. I love the woman, but you’re smoking something if you think she is our answer in 2012. Bottom of the ticket? Sure, if she is willing.
Give her some time. She was just thrown into the national spotlight a few months ago. Before being picked for v.p., she had no reason to be up on national issues. She sure knows her stuff when it comes to Alaska and energy. And I disagree with your assessment of her Greta interview. I thought she was speaking from the heart and trying to concentrate on what she was doing — cooking for a house full of folks. It was so refreshing to see a real person. We’ve seen the inside of her home a number of times now. How many times have we seen the inside of Obama’s home or Biden’s or even McCain’s? She has four years (2-2 1/2 before the presidential campaign starts) to get informed about foreign policy and other issues on the national level. I guarantee she’ll be topnotch just in time.
Truth be told, you’re both probably on to something since illegal immigration is NOT a big issue in Alaska, all things considered. In fact most of the immigrants are Japanese, Korean, and Pacific Islanders, and not Mexican. She has never really to worry about them as a major problem.
I think Palin/Jindal because I can’t see her second again. Jindal’s great too, but he’s young enough that in 12 years he’ll only be 48 I think.
I’m sorry but she is NOT the savior of the GOP. She is obviously accomplished in order to be Gov. of Alaska but I do not see her a presidential timber. If the GOP gloms onto her as the hope for 2012 it gurantees another 4 years of Obama. I know...I suck. It’s just my observations
Frankly, it’s only a matter of time before this forum begins to understand her immigration views are pretty much the same as John McCain’s, and most likely one of the prerequisites of her selection.

I’m afraid you may be right. I just can’t give on the amnesty issue, it’s a deal breaker to me. I see firsthand what taking care of illegals is doing to our healthcare system. Emergency rooms are closing everywhere because of this. Never gets into the news, but it’s happening.
It’s pointless to go after the Latinos.
They will vote for the party that offers them the most handouts. PERIOD.
When hard-working citizens get tired of paying for other peoples’ way, they will become more conservative.
i agree, we will both probably be “kicked off” for saying so. However, I did go to her rally here in Ohio and did enjoy seeing her, but I agree about the depth. She needs more experience, which could come over the next few years. I do think Jindal has proven to be an effective governor as has Barbour. Sarah’s numbers nationally are only 45% approval rating per Gallup, and you can bet that percentage is Republicans.
