But wouldn’t that mean two years as RNC chair while still being open to a run?

McCain at 72 obviously opens a wide span for a next or younger generation, but of those considered to be the next crew, really only Jindal would be positioned for a presidency in his 40’s. The rest I believe would be in their 50’s which puts them in their ‘CEO prime’, if you will, rather than still ‘youthful’.

That said, the Republicans obviously have a weakness for nominating old guys, and I might put Barbour at the top of my list among ‘the old guys’.

it seems more like the GOP weakness post McCain will be to make color picks if this forum is any indicator.

Yeah I think it's a generational thing. McCain and Bush etc. play by the rules of bygone generation. They think that not getting down in the mud and duking it out with this guys, they look more presidential.

But like it or not, our society has become crass and needs a politician who will call it like they see it. You can't hold back and someone needs to call the Dems out on their cheating, lying ways.

Oh sure, but I see Haley as perhaps a bit reluctant to run unless the conditions favor his skills.

The next generation is all those in the 40 and 50 year age group. Haley would be one of the few ‘old guy” exceptions, just because he has stayed out of the fray and has stuck to his guns more often than not on most issues. Not something that could be said about many Republicans on the hill and such.
